Shahid Kapoor is the son of veteran actor, Pankaj Kapur and his first wife, Neelima Azeem. Walking in his father's footsteps, Shahid too, has made a name for himself. However, he never misses a chance to talk about his father's piece of advice and reveal other cutesy anecdotes from their lives. For the unversed, the father-son duo shared the screen space in the 2015 rom com, Shaandaar and Gowtam Naidu Tinnanuri's 2022 sports film, Jersey. Currently, Shahid is gearing up for his upcoming romantic comedy opposite Kriti Sanon. In an interview, he revealed how his father teased him with their genetic hairfall, which led him to learn acting.
In an interview with Film Companion, Shahid Kapoor candidly revealed how his father, Pankaj Kapur used to tease him with their genetic hairfall. He mentioned being lucky to have dense hair, unlike his father, Pankaj Kapur, who had premature balding. Further, revealing how his dad's teasing led him to learn acting, Shahid said:
“When I saw my dad (getting bald), I was like, ‘Dad, this better not happen to me'. And he’d mess with me all the time. ‘Abhi toh tu hero ban gaya hai. Baad mein kya hoga tera when you won’t have any hair? Jab baal nahi rahenge toh acting karni padegi'. Maybe that's why I learnt acting (laughs)."

In the same conversation, Shahid also listed his father's favourite films and shows, which he often looks up to. The list includes the TV show, Karamchand and Neem Ka Ped, and films like Rui Ka Bojh and Maqbool. Moreover, he talked about one valuable piece of advice he has received from his father that he had been following wholeheartedly in his acting career. In his words:
“My dad used to tell me, ‘If you touch an audience member just thrice in your career, they’ll be there for you for the next 20 years.' That has been my attempt."
On May 29, 2022, Pankaj Kapur turned a year older, and his son, Shahid Kapoor didn't miss the chance to wish him in the best way. Shahid took to his IG handle and shared an unseen picture with Pankaj from his step-sister, Sanah Kapur's wedding. In the picture, the father-son duo was seen twinning in black-coloured kurtas paired with yellow pagdis and white pants. Along with the picture, Shahid wrote, "Happy birthday dad."

For the unversed, Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak's daughter, Sanah Kapur got married to her longtime boyfriend, Mayank Pahwa, on March 2, 2022. Thus, the Kapur clan was going through one of the happiest phases of their lives. In some rare video clips, we spotted Shahid Kapoor and his gorgeous wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor dancing with their father, Pankaj Kapur, to the song, Panj Taara. Although, all three of them were dancing quite slowly compared to others, they were also seen indulged in a fun conversation. There's no doubt that it was a sight to behold. In the second video, Shahid and Mira shaked a leg together on the song, Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujrat Ki, giving pure couple goals.
