On October 3, 2021, Shah Rukh Khan and his family got the biggest shock of their lives when his son, Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau. The NCB had raided a party on a Goa-bound cruise ship and it was alleged that Aryan was booked for the consumption of drugs. Aryan's bail was rejected multiple times, however on October 28, 2021, Aryan was granted bail by the Bombay High Court and the celeb kid had walked out of the Arthur Road jail.
The former Attorney General of India, Mukul Rohatgi, had represented Aryan Khan in the Bombay High court. In his plea to the court, Mukul Rohatgi had said that Aryan was invited on the cruise as a guest, and there was no recovery of drugs from him. The other two accused in the case, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, were also granted bail from Bombay HC.

Ever since Aryan has come out of jail, he became quieter and has gone into a shell. A close friend of Shah Rukh Khan told Bollywood Hungama that Aryan, who was an introvert was traumatized by the jail experience. He also added that Aryan has become more reserved and spends much of his time in his room only and doesn't even interact with his friends. The source was quoted as saying:
"He is not saying much, and he is keeping to himself. He stays in his room most of the time, shows no interest in going out to meet friends. He was always quiet. Now he is even quieter. As the days since his bail turn into weeks, Aryan remains clammed up. The family lets him remain the way he is."
The source also refuted rumours of Shah Rukh Khan getting a bodyguard for his son, Aryan for his security. As per the source:
"There is no plan to hire a bodyguard, especially for Aryan. For now, Shah Rukh Khan intends to be there for his son 24x7. All of Shah Rukh’s shooting is postponed for now. He wants to be there for his son as and when the child needs him."

After Aryan was granted bail, Shah Rukh Khan's legal team had released an official statement with a couple of pictures with the superstar. In the statement, they had written:
"Aryan Khan has ultimately been released on bail by the High Court. No possession, no evidence, no consumption, no conspiracy, right from the first moment when he was detained on October 2, 2021. Nor is there anything as of now. We are grateful to the almighty that our prayers were accepted by Mr Justice Nitin Sambre and he granted bail to Aryan. Satya Meva Jayate."
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken over Aryan Khan's case.
