Savannah Guthrie, who is best-known as the anchor of the Today show, recently left millions of fans worried for her when she randomly vanished away. Her absence from the show made fans wonder if she got any lead about her 84-year-old missing mother. Eventually, it was revealed that Savannah went on a vacation. Well, now, she opened up about the much-deserved break.

Savannah Guthrie opens up about her absence from the Today show

Recently, Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show, after a week-long absence. When she returned, she received a warm welcome from her co-anchor Craig Melvin. While her absence sparked concerns over her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, the journalist cleared the air and mentioned that she went on a vacation to take a break amid all the tensions.

When Craig described it as a 'well-deserved time-off', Savannah Guthrie explained that she spent her vacation watching a few FIFA 2026 matches. She added, "I watched quite a few of them and you should know, the France and Spain semifinal is today." It is worth mentioning that Savannah went on a break with her husband and their two kids.

Apart from this, Savannah Guthrie did not reveal any more details about the other activities she indulged in during her vacation. However, her fans are relieved that she is thinking about herself as well. Expressing support towards the anchor, a user commented, "I am glad Savannah took a break. So great to see Savannah back on the screen! She was definitely missed on the show. Wishing her all the best!"

It's been more than five months since the 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie got kidnapped from her home in Arizona. An official complaint was filed on February 1, 2026. Since then, the authorities have discovered multiple evidence; however, none of them have helped them to find the whereabouts of Nancy. Weeks ago, reports claimed that authorities received a few ransom messages.

However, it was eventually revealed that the notes are fake. A few days ago, the authorities shared an official statement, in which they warned netizens about such scammers. Reportedly, the statement was:

"PCSD will never ask for money related to this case, or any investigation. If you see one of these posts, ignore it and report it. Stay alert and help spread the word."

It is worth mentioning that while there seems to be no new information about Nancy Guthrie's kidnapping, her daughter and the entire team of the Today show is extremely hopeful and believes that Nancy will return very soon. In the past few weeks, Savannah has often spoken about the emotional toll. Talking about it, Savannah once explained:

"I know maybe people wonder, like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on? How is she able to do that job? Is she not thinking about it? Did she forget? No, never, never. I cry every morning on the way to work, and I cry every morning on the way home. I’m grateful to have good friends, and to be able to come to such a beautiful, joyous, and supportive place, and like so many people out there, you can hold all of these things together."

Amid this, Savannah Guthrie had last shared an Instagram post for her missing mother is from May 11, 2026. In the same, she shared a series of video clips of Nancy. Along with it, she penned a heartfelt message, in which she expressed her sadness and requested everyone to pray for Nancy and her return.
