We baked our first cake together and have raided our mom's makeup closet. We have gone on millions of ice-cream dates together and have stuffed our faces with junk food and watched Harry Potter movies all day. And then one day, we saw our 'darling sister' go away to make her own beautiful world as someone's 'missus'. While it broke our heart, we were happy to see her turn into a gorgeous bride. Bhen chahe badi ho ya choti, she always holds a special place in our heart. And an exactly similar relationship is shared between ace tennis player, Sania Mirza and her sister, Anam Mirza. At the beginning of December this year, Anam had said 'qubool hai' to her long-time beau, Asad Azharuddin and everyone was left mesmerised with her hashtag 'AbBasAnamHi'. She had looked gorgeous as a Muslim bride and had opted for a Hyderabadi khada dupatta ensemble in pink which made her look like a princess. On the other hand, her husband, Asad had picked a beige sherwani with a matching golden turban.
On December 27, 2019, Anam took to her Instagram handle and posted her wedding video which was shot by Daemi Films. The video gave us glimpses of Anam and Asad's fairytale affair. But what took our heart away was her family's words that they spoke for the newly-married couple. Anam's sister, Sania shared that she had seen her sister's 'falling in love phase' to her turning into a 'bride phase'. Alongside the video, Anam wrote, "Once in a while, life gives you a fairytale. Here is ours. #alhamdulillahforeverything. My wedding video had to be done by my favourite, @daaemi @asad_ab18." Take a look at it below:
Anam is a fashion stylist and a curator. Plus, she is the mind and heart behind her sister, Sania's gorgeous public looks and owns her own label. And maybe that's the reason why her every wedding look became a rage. Once in an interview with Indulge Express, Sania had talked about supporting her sister's venture and had said, "I have been the brand ambassador of The Label Bazaar from day one. I’ve always been very closely associated with it obviously because it is Anam’s baby, and I’m so happy to see her take her dreams forward and move so far ahead with the brand. As of now, there is no plan for a new fashion label. My sister is my stylist, and in a way, I am her muse." For quite some time, there have been rumours of Anam and Asad's dating. However, the star-sister never accepted her relationship with Asad. But in October 2019, Sania had disclosed the news of her sister exchanging the wedding vows and being a winter bride. She had also revealed that they had gone to Paris for Anam's bachelorette trip.
Anam's shaadi celebrations had started with a cute bridal shower which was attended by her sister and friends. In the series of pictures, we could see Anam donning a gorgeous pink tulle skirt with a white t-shirt and a floral wreath. Along with the beautiful pictures, she had written, "Life happens, and there are moments you feel so damn grateful. I've been feeling that for a whole week now. While life was happening I looked around yesterday at my Bridal Shower and I realised I've been lucky enough to find the best of friends and family. Absolutely thrilled and grateful. Let's kick start #AbBasAnamHi."
For the unversed, Anam was earlier married to Akbar Rasheed and had tied the knot on November 18, 2016, in Hyderabad. However, the two had parted ways after one-and-a-half years of marital bliss. As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source close to the Mirza family was quoted as saying, "The reason for the split is still unknown but we believe the divorce proceedings have come through. Meanwhile, Anam continues to focus on being the stylist for her sister and running her fashion outlet."
