For some couples, it takes no time to realise the ‘one’ for you. But for some, it takes years and still, you aren’t sure if the one you are with is ‘the one’ or not. For television lovebirds, Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava, it took only half an hour to decide on an eternity of togetherness and it was in an arranged marriage set-up that the lovebirds had tied the knot. Four years into marital bliss, Karan and Ankita had welcomed their first child in December 2019, and we couldn’t be happier for the newbie parents! Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava had kept her pregnancy under the wraps for a long time and amidst the speculations, the good news of the stork visiting the couple with a little angel surfaced on the internet. It was only later that the newbie parents had confirmed the arrival of their daughter. Karan and Ankita had officially announced the arrival of their angel and had revealed her name in a poster, which stated, "IT'S A GIRL! & we call her... Mehr Karan Patel Loving Parents, Ankita & Karan Patel." Karan and Ankita had captioned it as “All your blessings made our world beautiful, a heartfelt thankyou to all our well wishers .... #RabbDiMehr.”
Ever since Mehr Karan Patel came into this world, Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava’s fans have been eagerly waiting to hear how the newbie parents are feeling after embracing parenthood for the first time. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Karan, who confessed that he was hoping for a baby girl, said, “Rab di Mehr hui” and expressed that being a parent feels “surreal”. Stating that everyday is a new experience for them with a baby in the house now, Karan remarked, “It’s still sinking in. Every day is an experience. Right now, she is too small and sleeps through the day. But when she starts responding to sound and light, those interactions will be fun.”
Describing the role, he is playing in taking care of his newborn angel, Karan Patel continued, “She is troubling Ankita the most for now and father ka role thode time ke baad start hoga. I have learned how to swaddle her and change diapers, which I do when Ankita gets really tired. Otherwise, I have been putting her to sleep or staying awake when she wakes up and just taking care of her.”
Karan Patel has already planned to be the “best dad” when his little girl, Mehr Karan Patel grows up. Revealing how he wants to give his daughter freedom, education and guidance, Karan added, “Now that I have a daughter, I want to break taboos that fathers are protective about their daughters. I think, if you give your daughters enough freedom, education and guidance, you don’t have to worry about them. Daughters are more level-headed, sane and trustworthy than sons. When asked if he feels, like several others, that a man’s life is over after marriage and parenthood, Karan Patel retorted, “Parenthood is the beginning of life. After having a kid, life takes a turn as you are also living for your children and the well-being of the family. I think it’s the best thing that can happen to anyone. Kids inspire parents to do better and work harder in life.” Elaborating about how he and Ankita Bhargava dealt with this pregnancy after a miscarriage, Karan revealed that everyone was anxious about it, “but we never lost faith in ourselves and we had the support of our well-wishers and loved ones. We were a bit scared but kept praying nothing goes wrong.”
Revealing how they weren’t anticipating anything this time after suffering a miscarriage earlier, Karan Patel ended on the note, “We were hoping to have a daughter, especially after the unfortunate miscarriage earlier. This time, we did not want to anticipate or pre-plan anything, because if expectations are not met they lead to a lot of heartbreak. We simply waited for our Mehr... which was God’s gift to us after we lost our daughter the last time.”
On Christmas 2019, Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava had treated their fans with the first-ever glimpse of their newborn daughter, Mehr Karan Patel. Cuddled in her daddy’s arms, Mehr had looked adorable dressed in red and white as she twinned with her mommy, who wore a dress in the same colour combination. While Karan had captioned their first family picture as “MERRY CHRISTMAS #RabDiMehr”, Ankita had written, “This is the Merriest Christmas Everrrrr!!! #NaughtyAndMehr #RabbDiMehr #merryxmas.”
Before Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava had officially announced their daughter’s name, their close friends, Priyanka Vikaas Kalantri and Vikaas Kalantri had shared the same with their fans. Priyanka and Vikaas had visited the newbie parents and their baby girl at the hospital and sharing a picture with elated daddy, Karan, Priyanka had written, “Congratulations to the new Mommy @ankzbhargava and Daddy @karan9198 Mehr is such an angel You guys make a lovely family. Love you guys.” And Vikaas had captioned his post as “Congratulations to the new #daddy @karan9198 & #mommy @ankzbhargava in #town. Welcome to the #club guys The hands on KP was a welcome surprise.
