Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill briefly dated Australian actress Heather Mitchell. The ex-pair once sat down for an interview with The Daily Telegraph's Stellar magazine and revealed the exact cause behind their breakup. Sam had asked Heather an important question about why they broke up, to which she said she always wanted to discuss the reason behind it. In her words:
"Well, I’ve got my version, and you have yours. I’ve always wanted to discuss it. I think I did something that upset you. I can’t remember what it was.”

Mitchell revealed that she was unaware and had thought that he was mad at her. They might still be together if they had talked about the issue earlier. It seemed like a seed of misunderstanding was the cause of the breakup between the former couple. Both of them remained friends for 40 years. Sam Neill had continued that he remembered it differently, on how both were invited to a party and she was upset with him for some reason. The actor had stated that he had left the party and went away to England. The matter was never resolved, and he noted:
"So I turn up thrilled to see you – and you wouldn’t talk to me. You wouldn’t even look at me."

Sam Neill and his ex-girlfriend, Heather Mitchell, may have had a very short-lived romance, but they had found happiness in other aspects of their lives. Heather had then married cinematographer Martin McGrath back in February 1992, and the pair had two kids together. Sam had found love in Lisa Harrow and then had got married to make up artist, Noriko Watanabe back in 1989.
When Sam and Heather spoke about their breakup, a netizen had written, "Okay, you're backed up into a corner. I leave you there to get out Well you said that right." Another user wrote, "Two wonderful actors and two great friends. Yep, there is your side and her side and what’s in the middle. Makes up for the newspaper print copy which is pretty poor."

Sam had earlier revealed that the cancer was a good reminder that he is not dying with the same but living with it. Amid Sam's demise his family had released a statement saying:
"It is with immense sadness that the whanau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing. The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free. Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for their incredible care."
Sam Neill was seen in a dozen movies and TV series over his five-decade career. He was also seen in the Oscar-winning movie named Piano but was best known for playing the role of 'Dr Alan Grant' in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park.
