The nomination added another achievement to an already extraordinary career that spanned more than 50 years. Sam Neill beamed in his final public appearance in Sydney
Barely a month before his sudden passing, Sam Neill looked radiant with energy at the ARIA Hall of Fame Awards in Sydney, Australia. The Jurassic Park star beamed with pride as he celebrated the Hall of Fame achievements of his longtime colleagues, Jenny Morris, Kate Ceberano, and Vika and Linda Bull.
Later, the actor shared smiling photos from the evening on Instagram, including a cheerful selfie with Australian music icon Kate Ceberano. Reflecting on the ceremony, Neill wrote:
"ARIA Hall of Fame awards! Great night in Sydney. Four women I have idolised for decades were honoured. Jenny Morris, Kate Ceberano, and Vika and Linda Bull. Jenny was inducted into the Hall by no less than our former NZ PM, Jacinda Ardern. Another hero."

The post quickly filled with warm replies, including one from Ceberano herself, who commented, "Soooooo very lovely to see you." Fans have since revisited the photos, describing them as a touching reminder of the actor's enduring optimism and appreciation for the people around him.
Sam Neill had recently announced he was cancer-free
Sam Neill was diagnosed with stage-three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer, in 2022 after noticing swollen glands while promoting Jurassic World Dominion in Los Angeles. Speaking to The Guardian, Neill admitted he wasn't afraid of dying but hoped for "another decade or two" to watch his grandchildren grow and enjoy the life he had built.
After his initial chemotherapy failed, he underwent CAR T-cell therapy, an advanced immunotherapy treatment that ultimately put him into remission. In April 2026, Neill said he had "no cancer" in his body and described feeling healthier and happier than ever. His family also confirmed in a statement announcing his death that he remained cancer-free until the end.
Sam Neill's Hollywood career was nothing short of legendary. Although millions of fans will forever remember Neill as paleontologist 'Dr. Alan Grant' in the Jurassic Park franchise, his career extended well beyond dinosaurs.

Over five decades, Neill delivered acclaimed performances in films and television series including The Piano, Dead Calm, Peaky Blinders, The Twelve, Invasion, Apples Never Fall, My Brilliant Career and countless others. After his diagnosis, he kept working and said acting gave him purpose through his health battle.
Rest in peace, legend!
