Since we remember, we have dreamt of our prince charming riding on a white horse, wooing us and embarking our journey of ‘happily ever after’ with a fairy tale wedding! But being a bride, can you imagine that day without your ‘girl squad’? Nightmare, isn’t it? After all, what’s a bride without her squad of bridesmaids? We have always told this to our girlfriends and even heard the same from them, a list of things that they/you plan to do at your/their wedding. From being an unofficial wedding planner, a party starter, bride’s assistant to being your confidant at the most special day of your life, bridesmaids stick together to create the wedding, the most special moment of a bride’s life. Years before you had even chosen your groom, a list of songs on which you’ll be dancing with your girl squad on your pre-wedding ceremony has already been set! Even for the guests, the special dance performance of the bride with her bridesmaids is the highlight of the evening. And this real bride made sure that everyone including themselves, were fully entertained by her dance performance with her bridesmaids.
A real bride, Ankita Sharma along with her bridesmaids, Meera Mehta, Kirtida Sakla and Priyanka Rane proved to be exemplars of a bindaas ‘bride squad’. The bridesmaids began their performance on Ankita’s mehendi night with Twist Kamariya from Bareilly Ki Barfi and Drama Queen from Hasee Toh Phasee. Then they were joined by the bride herself and the squad had burned the dance floor, taking the mehendi night to a whole other level with their super-entertaining and fun performance on Teri Aakhya Ka Yo Kajal.
Besides the super-cool performance by Ankita on her mehendi with her bridesmaids, what took our hearts away was her look for the evening. For her mehendi night, Ankita had opted for a multi-coloured long dress which she had paired with a pair of sneakers. Ankita had also adorned her hair with flowers. Being a 90s kid, every girl could easily relate to fascinating over the dimpled smile, wide-open arms and oodles of charm of the ultimate lover boy, Shah Rukh Khan than a fairy tale prince charming. Shah Rukh is the ‘man’, who won everyone’s heart as Raj and Rahul and made us believe in love, happy endings and picture-perfect romances. And what could be a better proposal for a SRK lover than performance on his songs? For Ankita, her fiancé, Pritesh Narkar had prepared a performance on Shah Rukh special songs wherein in some songs, her bridesmaids too, had joined him.
From Mere Naam Tu (Zero) to Mujhko Hui Na Khabar (Dil To Pagal Hai), Pritesh made sure to make his proposal for Ankita, super special! At the end of Mere Naam Tu, Pritesh got down on his knees and proposed his ladylove, Ankita with a ring. Later, Ankita too had performed with her girls' squad on the song, Illegal Weapon, Jasmine Sandlas Feat Garry Sandhu.
For the bridal shower of Ankita, her spinster group made sure to plan a lovely surprise for the bride-to-be. Ankita had looked stunning in a black shimmery dress and along with her girl squad, they had posed with the bachelorette party props. But the highlight of that night was the cake that Ankita’s girls had ordered for her bachelorette. On the cake, it was written, ‘Last Night Of Freedom’ atop it and it looked yummylicious!
For the haldi ceremony, Ankita and her ‘brides’ squad’ had dressed up in yellow coordinated outfits. For her Maharashtrian wedding, Ankita had looked simple and elegant in an orange and red coloured saree, which she had accentuated with bridal red chooda with green bangles and a gold bangle in between.
