The concept of marriage put fear in our minds, especially millennials, because it requires a lifetime of commitment and a plenitude of responsibilities. And despite dreaming about a perfect wedding since our childhood days, millennials are increasingly becoming phobic towards marriage. Questions like, “Who will be our life partner?”, “How will we let go of our lifestyle and adjust with someone in the new house?”, “Will they like us for who we are?” et al. make us fear marriage. But when you marry someone you have known for years and have loved for the most part of your life, then these concerns vanish. Pratishtha Rikhy and Shaun Rikhy had known each other since school days and after a decade of friendship, they had decided to tie the knot. Founder of Pratishtha -The Label, Pratishtha revealed to us her love story and how she eventually married her best friend, “Shaun and I have been best friends since class 8th and after a decade of friendship we started dating and eventually I got married to my bestest friend.”
Pratishtha Rikhy has given us innumerous wedding trends for experimenting with her sartorial choices on her wedding and she is an inspiration for all the brides-to-be! And the catch here is that she had designed her parents, her sister and her own ensembles for the wedding. Going through Pratishtha’s pre-wedding and wedding pictures, we also can't stop admiring her for how adorable and elegantly gorgeous she had looked on her dreamy wedding with her prince charming, Shaun Rikhy.

Nothing makes us happier than unveiling hatke moments that break the stereo-typicality of the Indian wedding ceremonies. And Pratishtha had definitely won our hearts with her off-beat mehendi and wedding look. For the mehendi ceremony, Pratishtha had made heads turn in bold electric blue palazzo pants and cape with a shimmery crop top. She had accentuated her look with chunky earrings, maang teeka, delicately braided hair and minimal makeup. For her bridesmaid-cum-sister, Purbsha Sahil Dasawar, Pratishtha designed a pista green coloured lehenga with brocade blouse highlighted with sequences which she had paired with a chiffon skirt and flared dupatta drape. Purbsha emphasised her look with long chandelier earrings, a dainty maang teeka and a pretty hairdo.

Describing her mehendi look, Pratishtha had said, “For my Mehendi look, I wanted a more comfortable and modern look which is still vibrant and bright. Hence, I went ahead with a nice Electric Blue and paired it with shades of blue for the embroideries. Crop top and Palazzo was an absolute savior for this day as it was super comfy and yet made the look stylish. I paired my outfit with some Fooljadi (Gota) jewellery which was also customized for me in shades of blue and pink to compliment the whole look. The outfit was designed and created by me under my label, Pratishtha - The Label.”

Further elaborating on the décor of her mehendi ceremony, Pratishtha had stated, “For the decor, I had a strict budget and the function was taking place at home, but I also did not want to compromise and just go with genda phools. I came across Rudhirs work (Design My Wedding) and absolutely loved it for its simplicity and vibrancy. I wanted an overall pink and blue ombre look for my Mehendi and he helped me achieve that with the decor completely. For her cocktail, Pratishtha had worn, “#AStarryNight: Our founder Pratishtha's #CocktailLook was all things sparkly for her Engagement night. Silver color Lehenga set with Cut Dana, Pearls and Stones. Each Stone and pearl was meticulously hand embroidered into the garment by our karigars resulting in this bespoke beauty.”

Moving on to the wedding, Pratishtha Rikhy made our hearts skip a beat with a dreamy lilac lehenga and we can’t stop admiring how beautiful she had looked in her bridal attire. For the Anand Karaj, Pratishtha had described her outfit as, “For my anant karaj wedding I knew I wanted to go for an offbeat pastel color lehenga, yet something that looked traditional. So, after making 10 swatches of colors, I tried a mix of baby pink and lilac and came up with the perfect lilac pink for my Bridal lehenga. The Lehenga is made by me in a shimmer silk beautifully hand crafted with gota patti, pearls, zari and dabka in rose gold color to compliment the lehenga color. I also got a pocket put in my lehenga, because every girls needs to carry her lipstick and phone, especially on the most important day of her life.”
But after looking closely at her bridal look, we found yet another reason to be left absolutely smitten over by her. We are referring to her super-fresh and breathtaking mangalsutra design, which has been passed on to her by husband Shaun's family. The esthetic piece of jewellery comes straight out of her mommy-in-law's treasure troves as it has been passed on from generations. Speaking about the same, Pratishtha had said, “The mangalsutra has been passed on generation to generation in my husbands family, my mother-in-law gifted it to me on my wedding. It is a beautiful mangalsutra with meenakari work, a piece of stunning heirloom jewellery that I will cherish forever.”
Pratishtha’s long mangalsutra has the most unique and statement design as it’s done in splendid meenakari work with floral highlights. Not just that but, even the mangalsutra chain is something we have never seen before and it isn't a usual one. The gold chain with black beads in a panelled cluster setting makes the mangalsutra outshine.
