Ram Kapoor's Wife Gautami Defends Him As Naman Shaw Opens Up On 'Kasamh Se' Co-Star Kissing Him

After Bigg Boss 19, Lock Upp 2 has emerged as the daily dose of entertainment and gossip. The show is full of unique characters who have added distinct spice to Lock Upp 2. Among them, actor Ram Kapoor has emerged as a major talking point due to his alleged habit of being overly affectionate with people. He has sparked intense scrutiny after kissing co-contestants Shreya Kalra, Laila Yadav and Akanksha Chaudhary.

Ram Kapoor's wife, Gautami Kapoor has been defending his actions throughout. Amid that Ram's former co-star, Naman Shaw's account of being kissed by him surfaced, which escalated the controversy. Naman's revelation brought back a years-old scandal, which led people to question his sexuality.

Naman Shaw broke silence on the massive controversy around Ram Kapoor kissing him publicly

Naman Shaw and Ram Kapoor worked together in Ekta Kapoor's popular television show Kasamh Se, which aired in 2006. In his recent chat with The Times of India, Naman opened up on the years-old buzz regarding Ram kissing him on set and the emotional toll the incident had on him. Back when Kasamh Se used to be a hit on the television TRP ratings, a journalist visited the sets of the daily soap to have a chat with the actors. At that time, he asked Ram about his experience of working with Naman.

Ram responded in an unexpected manner, pulling Naman closer and kissing him on the cheek. He then praised his co-star as an actor, saying he was good at his job. Things would have been fine if Ram stopped at that, but he went on to comment on Naman's body, saying that he had a good posterior and that Ram gets inspired by him. Saying that he loves his co-star, Ram Kapoor stated:

"Oh, I love Naman. He's a great actor. He's an actor with a great ass, and I get inspiration from him."

Even though the entire thing was said in jest, the journalist and the audience took it out of context and made it bigger than the actors expected. Naman recalled being haunted by headlines like, "Are Ram Kapoor and Naman out of the closet?" People were questioning their sexuality, and it greatly affected Naman as he was a newbie in the industry at that time. "My family was also quite upset and concerned after seeing the headlines....Being so new to the industry at that time, it was definitely quite overwhelming to deal with," Naman said.

Talking about Ram Kapoor's Lock Upp 2 venture and him being caught up in similar kissing controversies, Naman stated that he "needs to control his emotions and be a little more mindful." He shared that he took Ram's affectionate behaviour sportingly, but not everyone will be so open-minded. To avoid unnecessarily offending people, Ram needs to check his behaviour, as per Naman. His exact words were:

"I know Ram is a very expressive person, but I think sometimes he needs to control his emotions and be a little more mindful, because you never know how the other person might take it. I was absolutely cool with it, but not everyone may be comfortable with that kind of affection or expression. Some people might genuinely get offended or feel awkward. I mean, even in the show Lock Upp, I can see people getting offended by it."

Amid Ram Kapoor's kissing row, his wife stands by him

Ram Kapoor's wife, Gautami Kapoor has been his rock through thick and thin. Around the same time as Naman Shaw's interview got published, Gautami took to her Instagram Story to defend her husband from the criticism he has been facing. She shared an edit of Ram including a compilation of him smiling and laughing in Lock Upp 2 and wrote, "Those who know you know you! @iamramkapoor be strong." In the following Story, Gautami called her husband a genuine and carefree soul in a world of "fickle egos." She wrote:

"In this world of Fickle Ego's and Pressure Building this man lives Life the way a Man/Human being should. Carefree, Honest, Loving and Respectful."
