Rajinikanth is the most popular South Indian star and rules millions of hearts. The 70-year-old actor had made his debut in 1975 with the movie, Apoorva Ragangal and has never looked back since then. He has completed more than 45 years in the Tamil film industry and has featured in countless South Indian and Bollywood movies like Billu, Muthu, Baashha, Sivaji, and Darbar. Rajinikanth is a legend and has a humongous fan following.
A few days back, Rajinikanth had visited Delhi and had received the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to cinema. Later, on October 28, 2021, he had gone to the Kauvery hospital for a routine checkup, where he had to be admitted. Rajnikanth was admitted to the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Thursday. For the uninitiated, earlier in December 2020, he was admitted to the Apollo hospital, Hyderabad, due to fluctuating blood pressure and exhaustion.

Rajinikanth underwent a carotid artery revascularisation surgery in Kauvery Hospital and was hospitalised for three days. However, on October 31, 2021, Rajinikanth was spotted by the paparazzi outside his house. The star was seen walking from his car and his wife, Latha, and his daughter, Aishwarya were seen receiving him. Rajinikanth confirmed his return and thanked his fans through his daughter, Aishwarya's recently launched voice-based social media app, Hoote. The actor said:
"Treatment is over, I'm doing well. I've returned home tonight. I thank everyone who prayed for my health and everyone who enquired about my health. Thank you."
Moreover, on October 31, 2021, Rajinikanth took to his social media handle and updated his fans about his return. He shared a picture of himself praying in front of his home temple. Along with it, he wrote, "Returned home," and added a folded hands emoticon.
According to a medical bulletin issued by the Kauvery Hospital, the Padma Bhushan awardee underwent carotid endarterectomy, which is a surgical procedure that removes plaque from the inside of a patient's carotid artery in order to restore normal blood flow to the brain.
Talking about Rajinikanth's health in recent years, it was only last year in December 2020, when the actor was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. The actor was hospitalised after he had complained about exhaustion and fluctuation in his blood pressure. However, the actor was soon discharged from the hospital and had continued filming for his upcoming movie.

Earlier this year, on February 26, 2021, Rajinikanth and his wife, Latha had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. On their special occasion, their doting daughter, Aishwarya, had shared a beautiful sketch that had featured her nana and nani on the left-hand side and her dada and dadi on the right. In the middle, we could see Rajinikanth and Latha holding each other's hands. Along with this priceless portrait, Aishwarya had penned a heart-melting letter in the caption. An excerpt from it could be read as:
"She embraced them as a family and he took care of hers like his own till the end of their days ... I truly believe that my grandparents are angels guarding the two of you through life with its every possible twist and at each turn."
On the professional front, Rajinikanth will next be seen in the film, Annaatthe, which will release on November 4.
