Radhika Apte slammed a journalist for asking her if she 'created controversies' with bold scenes for fame
Radhika Apte generated significant buzz when an intimate scene from Leena Yadav's short film Parched was leaked online. The scene featuring her and her co-star, Adil Hussain, circulated widely on social media without her knowledge or consent. About a year later, the actress appeared in a press meet, where a reporter asked her if "creating such controversies and doing bold scenes was necessary to become successful."
Many found the unnamed journalist's question offensive, as it almost subtly implied that Radhika had milked her leaked clips. Radhika Apte was reportedly furious at the "ridiculous" question and fired back at the inquisitor in a strong and dignified way. She said that the blame lay not with her, but with those who circulated the clip. Radhika added that she was an actress and would perform any kind of scenes based on her character's requirements. In her words:
"Sorry, your question is very ridiculous. Controversies are created by people like you. You saw the clip? You shared it with others? You are the person that controversies are made out of. I am an artist...if I am required to do a certain job, then I will do it."
Radhika told the journalist to look at Hollywood and other international projects where people wouldn't even bat an eye at a nude scene. According to her, global stars were doing incredible work by experimenting with different kinds of scenes. She wanted the journalist to check them out and realise that her question to Radhika was inappropriate. The Lust Stories 3 actress stated:
"If you get out of your cocoon and look at world cinema, at what people are doing abroad...and what they're successfully doing, you'll probably not ask me these questions."
Radhika Apte boldly stated that she was "not ashamed" of showing skin on camera if her role required it. She added that people who were bothered by actors' bodies in explicit scenes were insecure about their own bodies. Slamming such people, Radhika said that they should look at their own bare bodies in mirrors rather than her viral leaked clip. The actress was quoted as saying:
"I am not ashamed of anything. People who are embarrassed about their own body are curious about other's body. So if you want to see a naked body tomorrow, see yourself in the mirror rather than my clip. Then only we can talk about this."
