Radhika, who currently stars in the anthology Lust Stories 3, recently spoke about the traumatic experience when an intimate scene from her film Parched was leaked online. The leak left the actress in deep distress, leaving her scared to even step out of her home.
Radhika Apte called her driver and spot boy when her intimate clip got leaked
In an interview with India Today, Radhika spoke about the aftermath of her leaked video. The actress said it was a complicated situation for her, as it could have repercussions. Radhika also said her stylist told her people had seen it. She also recalled people in her close circle telling her that their drivers and watchmen had seen the clip.
The incident left Radhika scared for her life as she was under threat. She had no other choice but to turn to her team and ask them to protect her. Elaborating on the same, she said:
“I eventually called my driver and my spot dada and told them, ‘A clip has been leaked. Have you seen it? Because if you have not, I’ll send it to you. Watch it. If you’re okay with it, then you have to protect me. Otherwise, do not work with me. Here’s your salary; you can go’. And they both said, ‘We will look after you’. I was really scared because I was living alone in an apartment at the time. So yes, it can get quite tricky.”
Radhika Apte rejected a film due to her fear
In the same interview, Radhika revealed how the leaked video affected her and shared that it also influenced her career choices. The actress was offered a film, which she turned down because of the political environment at the time. Known for calling a spade a spade, the actress felt ashamed of her decision, as fear led her to change her career path. But she had no other option as she didn’t wish to put her family in danger.
Radhika is known for her stellar performances on-screen. She began her career by acting in theatre and made her brief debut with a short role in the film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi. In 2009, Radhika got her first lead role in the Bengali film, Antaheen. Since then, she has never looked back. Radhika outshone her contemporaries with her talent and effortless acting in films like Shor In the City, Badlapur, Manjhi - The Mountain Man, Parched, Pad Man, Madly, Lust Stories, Sacred Games, Andhadhun, and many more.
The actress, who never minces her words, once spoke about turning down high-profile Bollywood projects when she realized the toxic environment they brought and people's true intentions. Due to this, she ventured into the South Indian film industry, and it was no better. The only reason she agreed to act in South films was that she was in dire need of money. Her experience working there was so bad that she said she'd cry if she faced something like that again, and wished no woman be put in the position she was in.
