Who Is Princess Dianna's Brother, Earl Spencer's Fourth Wife? Secretly Married Her At The Age Of 61

Princess Diana's brother, Earl Spencer, is in the headlines for his fourth wedding at the age of 61. He tied the knot for the fourth time with Cat Jarman, who is a professor of archaeology, in a secret ceremony in the United States. The two met each other in 2021 for work purposes, and while working together on a podcast, they grew closer. 

Earl Spencer officially announced his relationship with Cat Jarman in 2024, and after which, there was no looking back. Before we share more details about their wedding, let's know more about Cat Jarman.

Who is Cat Jarman, Earl Spencer's fourth wife?

Cat Jarman is a Norwegian archaeologist and author. She has studied archaeology at the University of Bristol. She got her doctorate degree in 2017, as per her bio on her literary agency's website. She was also an honorary senior research associate at the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the school and the director of the archaeological research unit. After getting her doctorate, she continued her archaeological work in the Viking field on women and Rapa Nui. She has led excavations at the Anglo-Saxon and Viking site of Rapton. Talking about her work, Cat once said:

"I’m always looking for new stories to tell. I do a lot of broadcasting and podcasts as well."

Apart from her fieldwork, Cat has also published her findings in two books she authored — River Kings: A New History of the Vikings from Scandinavia to the Silk Roads (2021) and The Bone Chests (2023). The first book traces the pieces of jewellery that were found in England from India, and the latter one was of her research into ten broken wooden chests that contained the bones of royals. 

How did Earl Spence meet Cat Jarman?

Earl Spencer and Cat Jarmet launched their podcast Rabbit Hole Detectives in 2023, which became the foundation for their love story. It was during the filming of the podcast that they found a connection. Later, in June 2024, Earl Spancer announced his divorce from his then-estranged wife, Karen. Reports claimed that the reason was his closeness with Cat Jarman, who was already separated from her husband. She even helped Earl unearth a Roman villa in Althorp. 

Cat Jarman is also a mother, and she has often talked about being a full-time single mother. In a February 2023 post, Cat shared how she took her children on a trip with her when they are on break from school, which she cannot often do. She said:

"While their world stops for a week, mine doesn’t. Thankfully, my children are older now and need less supervision, but I still want them to enjoy their time off. I travel a lot for work but rarely get to take my children with me so this time, I sneaked in a mini-break by the sea to coincide with a meeting."

Earl Spancer and Cat Jarman's secret wedding 

On May 15, 2026, the 9th Earl Spencer (61) married Car Jarman (43) in a private ceremony in Arizona, US. In a joint statement to People, the couple shared that they are lucky to have progressed from colleagues to friends and now they share a deeper relationship. The statement can be read as:

"We both feel so incredibly lucky to have progressed from being colleagues, to friendship, to deep love and connection. Each stage of our relationship has been underpinned by laughter and we share a passion for life."

For the ceremony, Cat wore a pale blue sleeveless gown with soft cutout detailing on the waist. On the other hand, Spencer donned a dark suit paired with an open-collar light blue shirt for the simple ceremony.
