In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Poonam opened up about the much-talked-about debate in the entertainment world, nepotism. The actress shared that she has never worked with the Rajshri Banner but has seen Sooraj ji's film, so there's no such question about her calling the director and saying that her daughter wants to be an actor. Sharing that such a thing never happened, Poonam stated:

"There's this thing in our industry that you have the reach, you're a star… I've so much regard for the Rajshri banner, I've never worked with them. I've seen Sooraj ji's films. Personally, I didn't know him much other than ‘hello, hi.’ There's no question of me calling Sooraj ji and telling him that my daughter wants to be an actor. That never happened."

Poonam Dhillon addresses the online trolling that circles around nepotism

In the same interview, Poonam Dhillon also shared how her daughter, Paloma, ended up getting a role in Dono. Sharing the details about the same, Poonam shared that just like every new newcomer, her daughter, too, had to give auditions multiple times. The veteran actress shared that even after eight months of auditions, Paloma was unsure about landing a role in a film. Speaking along the same lines, Poonam shared that it is actually sad seeing these kids working hard yet to get the brunt of online trolling evolving around nepotism. Elaborating more on the same, Poonam stated:

"They auditioned her multiple times. She went through the whole process like any newcomer. I think they auditioned a lot of newcomers. Six-eights months after the audition, she didn't know whether she was selected. It feels sad to see the trolling and comments about nepotism online. These kids work as hard and go through as much struggle. You cannot take that away from them."

Speaking along the same lines, Poonam stated that kids obviously get inspired by their parents, and opportunities may come their way, but nothing can be achieved without hard work.
