Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleSid Wilson's exit from Slipknot has been the worst-kept secret in the heavy metal band. News of his departure began making headlines weeks ago, but it was only on August 14, 2026 (ET) that it was confirmed. However, soon after the band posted it, the post was deleted, leaving netizens even more confused.
Sid Wilson removed from Slipknot, band confirms
Slipknot has seemingly confirmed that Sid Wilson has been removed from the band. However, rather than a direct post, the announcement arrived in a mysterious fashion. The band announced that Slipknot's turntablist and keyboardist, Sid, was no longer a member, then deleted the social media posts in question.
The black-and-white post said that Slipknot wishes Sid Wilson the best for the future. However, they won't be associated with the turntablist anymore. The post was made in the late hours of August 14, 2026 (ET) and was deleted soon after. The now-deleted post could be read as:
"Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Netizens react to the confirmation about Sid Wilson's exit from Slipknot
Soon after Slipknot deleted the post, it started making rounds on social media. Later, Knot Fest reshared the post, which soon went viral. Netizens began taking to the post's comments section to express their thoughts on Sid Wilson's removal from the group. A user penned, "Who wants to place bets on who's next? I say, Jim." Another wrote, "Slipknot needs to end if they're just going to continue firing members." A comment read, "Mad disrespectful couldn't even announce it on the actual Slipknot page." A user in a long post wrote:
"I've been a fan of Slipknot for many years, ever since Iowa dropped, but I don't understand why they're getting rid of the original members. I get that Paul & Joey died, R.I.P, but this with the surviving original members I just don't understand."
For the unversed, stories about Sid Wilson being fired from the group started making rounds around two weeks ago when TMZ reported that a source close to the band said Sid had been dismissed. However, soon after, lead guitarist Jim Root apparently dampened the rumors in an Instagram post. He penned:
"Don't believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for a while. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there's more information."

However, soon another report by the media outlet was published, claiming that Sid Wilson had been fired for mistreating his bandmates and that his sacking was a long time coming, not "some abrupt decision made in the heat of the moment." Slipknot had planned to announce Wilson's exit, but their scoop meant the band "lost control of the rollout" and "freak[ed] out behind the scenes, with members frustrated they could no longer announce the split on their own terms."
Later, Sid Wilson's former fiancée, Kelly Osbourne, made her own accusations about the musician's behavior, telling him to "wake the fuck up and take some responsibility" for his actions. She also asked him to return her possessions and pay child support for their three-year-old son, Sidney. For the unversed, Sid joined Slipknot in 1998, in time for the release of the band's debut album the following year. However, he has yet to publicly comment on his departure.
