In what has been one of the nation's most closely watched trials, some new details have surfaced that once again put Patrick's alleged involvement under the microscope.
An AllTrails review attributed to Patrick appears to show that he reviewed an "amazing hike" in Costa Rica, less than 20 days after the children's funeral.
Did Patrick Clancy go on a vacation to Costa Rica in February 2023?
Patrick and Lindsay's three children, Cora (5), Dawson (3), and Callan (8 months) were found dead in their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on January 24, 2023, and their funeral was held on February 3. If the AllTrails review is to be followed, Patrick reviewed a hike at the Manakin Waterfall Nature Reserve in Costa Rica on February 21, 2023, just 18 days after the funeral. The review posted from his public profile reads:
"This hike was amazing. It is short, but LOTS of stairs. You will be dripping sweat. I’m not sure about the $17. I was the only one there with no one else in sight. There’s also zero cell service."
The timing of the review has raised eyebrows amid the ongoing murder trial. While the date of the review does not establish that Patrick was physically in Costa Rica on February 21, 2023, it still didn't sit well with most online users.
It is also important to note that Patrick himself has said that he did travel to Central America after the devastating tragedy. In a 2024 profile, The New Yorker reported that Patrick took a solo trip to Central America before traveling to Europe in February 2023, just weeks after losing his children. That makes the broader claim that Patrick traveled abroad shortly after the tragedy well documented.
Under normal circumstances, there would be little reason for anyone to pay attention to such a review. But given the context, many found it unusual and rather controversial for a grieving father who had just lost his three children to post about having a great time or sound so jolly about it.
The review, when contrasted with Patrick's documented state of mind, raises inconsistencies. It doesn't necessarily indicate anything sinister, and there is no prescribed timeline for how someone should behave after losing a child. However, Patrick's account of the period, as reported by The New Yorker, described profound emotional pain.
One online user noted, "You just lost all three of your children. Your wife is hospitalized and accused of murdering them. Your entire life has been turned upside down. And somewhere in the middle of that, you think, 'Oh yeah, I should log onto AllTrails and leave a happy review about that amazing hike I took in Costa Rica.'... I find it strange."
Was Rachel Danis with Patrick Clancy?
What has further raised eyebrows is the timeline clash of a separate review made by Patrick's new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis. This is where the online speculation gets ahead of the evidence. Patrick wed the New York-based reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist in April 2026 after Patrick's divorce from Lindsay.
While there is no credible evidence establishing that that Rachel accompanied Patrick to Costa Rica in February 2023, a screenshot circulating online shows a Rachel Danis leaving a fishing-charter review in Massachusetts in August 2025. The review reads:
"Captain Anthony was awesome!! This is our 3rd year going out with him and have had an incredible time. We have always caught something and he is always helpful and educates where needed!"
Given the mention of their "3rd year" visiting the place, it has prompted speculation about how long Rachel and Patrick may have known each other. But that review does not identify Patrick, does not mention Costa Rica and does not establish that the pair were together in 2023. It therefore should not be presented as proof that Rachel was Patrick's companion on the trip.
The renewed interest comes as Patrick remains an important figure in the Lindsay Clancy case. Prosecutors allege Lindsay deliberately killed Cora, Dawson and Callan. Her defense argues that she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis and other mental-health problems that left her unable to understand her actions.
Patrick has openly forgiven Lindsay, saying she was a "generously loving and caring" wife and mother. After divorcing her, he eventually moved to New York and now lives with his new wife.
