The wedding countdown has already begun for RIL Chairman, Mukesh Ambani's son, Akash Ambani’s wedding to Shloka Mehta. The couple has been the talk of the entire nation, ever since they exchanged rings on June 30, 2018, at Antilia (Ambani’s residence). After their pre-wedding bash in St. Moritz, Switzerland, the families are gearing up for the big day with an ‘Anna Seva’. On March 6, 2019, prior to the beginning of the Anna Seva, Nita Ambani inaugurated the Dhirubhai Ambani Square at Jio World Centre in Bandra. It is a part of Jio World Centre, a world-class, multi-use facility, which is a shared goal of Reliance Industries Ltd. and MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) to create the largest and best global convention facilities and services in India. Akash Ambani’s mother and founder of Reliance Foundation, Nita ji talked about this initiative. She said, “The Dhirubhai Ambani Square and the Jio World Centre fulfil the vision of a great son of India, who believed that India has the potential to achieve global excellence in every area of nation-building.” The highlight of the event musical fountain programme for children was the rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Ho’ – two popular anthems - synchronised with the intricate and mesmerising movements of the water fountain. Nita ji also talked about how in the coming days, the Dhirubhai Ambani Square will be a treat to the eyes of all the Mumbaikars. She stated, “In the coming days, it will be a great treat to the eyes of all Mumbaikars who will visit this modern and futuristic square, part of the world-class, multi-purpose Jio World Centre which will be the largest and one of the best global convention centres in our country. When the Jio World Centre opens towards the end of this year, it will be a place where people will get together, to appreciate art, to exchange ideas, to celebrate culture, and to soak in the heritage and vibrancy of our great city!”
She further added, “We are delighted to be able to share our joy with and receive the blessings of, thousands of children and senior citizens from across the city. On March 4, 2019, the family celebrated Maha Shivratri with a grand puja as they seeked the blessings of Shiv and Shakti for the soon-to-be-married couple, Akash and Shloka. Amidst all the wedding tam-jhaam, the family hosted a dreamy 3-day-long pre-wedding bash for all their friends and family in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The theme of the celebration was ‘winter wonderland’ and the couple arrived at the bash in a white chariot.
Akash and Shloka’s love-story is nothing less than a fairytale romance! Akash proposed to his childhood friend, Shloka in March last year. And they celebrated their new beginnings with their close family and friends in a private ceremony in Goa. Shloka is a daughter of Russell and Mona Mehta. The young heiress completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, and went on to do her masters at the London School of Economics, before coming back to India in 2014.
