Then came the reports of Sara and Kartik working together as the lead actors in the former’s father, Saif Ali Khan’s film, Love Aaj Kal’s sequel. After months of speculations and denials, Kareena Kapoor Khan on Koffee With Karan season 6 confirmed that Kartik and Sara are doing a film together. For everyone who has been eagerly waiting to see the sparks fly between Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan, this one is for them! Kartik and Sara have started shooting for their first film together, tentatively titled Love Aaj Kal 2, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The shooting went on floors in Delhi on March 4, 2019, we got our hands on a leaked video from the sets. In the video, Kartik and Sara can be seen indulging in a slow romantic dance and in the end, they share a passionate liplock as well. On Koffee With Karan, when Karan Johar asked Sara Ali Khan’s step-mom, Kareena Kapoor Khan as to who the Pataudi princess is dating, Bebo replied, "Right now she is dating her career." When probed further to comment on Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan’s pair, Kareena Kapoor Khan stated, "He's wonderful and they will make a good pair and they are also planning to do a movie together. They look good. He's massy, she's classy." Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who came on the show with Kareena Kapoor Khan, took a dig at her answer and said, "But is he not classy?" to which Kareena quickly responded saying, "But... Sara is classy and they'll look really good together."
Kartik Aaryan too, appeared on Koffee With Karan with his Luka Chuppi co-star, Kriti Sanon, and he was quizzed about asking Sara Ali Khan on a date. Karan Johar asked him, "An exciting thing that happened Kartik is Sara Ali Khan came on my couch and said that she wanted to date you. What is the follow-up on that? What's the status? Are you interested in Sara Ali Khan?", to which, Kriti interrupted and asked, "Have you sent her your address?"
To which, Kartik sat there, all blushing and replied, “So, what I'm doing is, sir, I'm just trying to, you know, earn more and more money right now. Saif (Ali Khan) sir said, 'Does he have the money?' So, I'm just..." Karan probed, “And, you clearly don't have the money that can match the Prince of Pataudi.” Kartik answered, “I don't know. She is a princess. Sometime back, the makers of Luka Chuppi had organised a special screening of the film and Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan’s parents along with other B-town stars attended the event. Two girls who caught everyone’s attention were Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday, who came together to root for their ‘cute crush’, Kartik. For the special screening of Luka Chuppi, Sara looked gorgeous in a denim jumpsuit and wore long round earrings to complement her outfit. Ananya kept it simple with a polka-dotted LBD and complemented it with white-coloured casual shoes. Sara and Ananya were all smiles for the cameras as they posed together.
During the promotions of Luka Chuppi, Kartik talked about the much-awaited Love Aaj Kal 2 sequel with Sara Ali Khan. In an interview with Times Now, Kartik had shared, “I don't know koi soch raha ho shayad se. I have no knowledge about it. I think Sara ko poochna chahiye agar koi offer aaya hai toh.” But the best part was, when the portal asked Kartik if he is fed up with anwering questions about Sara, time and again in promotions, the actor quipped, “Why will I be fed up? Not fed up at all.” To which, his co-star Kriti Sanon too, joked, “Poocho poocho...abhi dus questions!”
Kriti Sanon went on to say, “I don't think they have spoken to each other so much than about each other.” Kartik reasoned it out and shared, “The thing is that she was being asked when she was promoting her film. Because once she had something then everybody kept asking her. So everyother day kuch na kuch aisa aa raha tha ki aisa laga raha tha woh bhi aisa toh nahin...zyada toh nahin...lekin I understood the fact that while you are promoting you'll always be asked these questions.
