The flagbearer of feminism, Neena Gupta is an embodiment of women's empowerment. In the industry led by nepotism, Neena had made a name for herself without any Godfather. It was in 1994 when Neena had made a breakthrough with the acclaimed drama, Woh Chokri, for which she had won a National Film Award for Best Supporting actress. In 2018, she had made a resurgence in her career with the comic drama, Badhaai Ho.
Talking about Neena Gupta's personal life, after a series of heartbreaks, Neena Gupta had found love in the arms of West Indies cricket team captain, Vivian Richards. In the 80s when having an extra-marital affair was a taboo, Neena dared to fall in love with an already married man and had also given birth to his daughter, Masaba Gupta, out of wedlock.

Neena Gupta doesn't believe in mincing her words. The actress has recently bashed trollers for judging a woman on her choice of clothes. She took to her IG handle and posted a video of herself, where she was seen donning a grey-coloured dress with a plunging neckline. In the video, Neena bashed trollers for targeting women wearing sexy clothes. She can be heard saying in Hindi:
"Mujhe ye isliye post karna hai kyunki aisa lagta hai ki jo log aise sexy type kapde pahante hain, jaise ki maine abhi pahne hai – wo aise hi hote hain, bekar ke. Lekin main bata du ki maine Sanskrit mein MPhil ki hui hai, aur bhi bahut kujh kia hua hai. To kapde dekh ke kisi ko judge nahi karna. Troll karne walo samajh lo."
Neena, who has brilliantly raised her daughter, the ace fashion designer, Masaba Gupta is an inspiration to all the single mothers. In 2008, Neena had broken another stereotype when she had married a Delhi-based Chartered Accountant, Vivek Mehra at the age of 50. The two had started their beautiful married life together and are still going strong to this day.

Neena Gupta had given an interview to film critic, Rajeev Masand and had spoken candidly about her daughter, Masaba. Commenting on her choice of depriving Masaba of her father and a normal family, Neena Gupta had stated that it was selfish on her part. She was quoted as saying:
"Very much. All the time. I feel it was a very selfish act on my part. Some of my friends told me it won’t be fair on part of the child, but kaun sunnta hai uss waqat, blind hotey hain (who listens at that age, people are blind). I also feel sad because she was lonely. I wish I had another child but circumstances weren’t like that)."
On the work front, Neena will be next seen in the film, Gwalior!
