The city of Mumbai became the number one city in Asia for having the most billionaires, beating Beijing. Globally, Mumbai now ranks third after New York, which has 119 billionaires, followed by London with 97. As per Hurun Global Rich List 2024, there is a significant increase in Mumbai's total billionaire wealth, which now stands at USD 445 billion. Notably, Mumbai hosts 92 billionaires, followed by Beijing, which has 91 billionaires, amounting to USD 265 billion in total wealth. Thus, here is a list of the top ten billionaires with their global ranking as per a report in Times Now.
The owner of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani and family, has a global ranking of 10. Elder son of legendary business tycoon, Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh's Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) deals mainly with refining, petrochemicals, and the oil and gas sectors.

The owner of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Dilip Shanghvi and his family has a global ranking of 61. The man behind the world's fourth largest generic drugs maker, Dilip, had started the company using the money borrowed from his father, and the rest became history.
The owner of Aditya Birla group, Kumar Mangalam Birla and family, has a global ranking of 100. Coming third in the list, he inherited the group after his father, Aditya Birla's death in 1995. Since then, the group has expanded its horizon in sectors ranging from telecom to infrastructure.

The owner of Avenue Apartments, Radhakishan Damani and family, has a global ranking of 100. The family also owns the Indian supermarket firm, D-Mart, and has involvement in numerous sectors ranging from investment to hospitality.
The owner of Bajaj Auto, Niraj Bajaj and family, has a global ranking of 107. The Bajaj brothers are an example of another traditional business family that is the leader in the nation's asset management sector.
The owner of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Uday Kotak, has a global ranking of 141. The bank, which he started in the 80s as a financial firm, has already acquired the top position amongst the private sector banks in the country.
The owner of Macrotech developers, Mangal Prabhat Lodha and family, has a global ranking of 183. The real estate tycoon is a politician and serves as the MLA in the Maharashtra legislative assembly.

The owner of Sterling Investments, Rohiqa Cyrus Mistry and family, has a global ranking of 257. Rohiqa Cyrus Mistry is the wife of the late Cyrus Mistry, the younger son of the construction tycoon, Pallonji Mistry. Now, Rohiqa is not just the director of Anand Agencies Private Limited but also actively participates in the trade in Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd.
The owner of Sterling Investments, Shapoor Pallonji Mistry, has a global ranking of 257. Shapoor is the brother of the late Cyrus Mistry and also actively controls the 158-year-old engineering and construction giant, Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
The owner of Britannia Industries, Nusli Wadia and family, has a global ranking of 273. Not only that, Nusli heads the Wadia Group, one of the oldest business houses in the city, which is also known for its company, Bombay Dyeing.
Well, these were just the top 10 billionaires in Mumbai. Apart from them, India has many other jewels, including Gautam Adani, Savitri Jindal, Shiv Nadar, and the Hinduja brothers, amongst others, which help boost the nation's economy greatly.
