It was very surprising for everyone when the chocolate boy of Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor, took the arranged marriage path for getting married. It was on July 7, 2015, that Shahid tied the knot with a Delhi college girl, Mira Rajput in a Gurudwara wedding. It was a grand event, but the ceremony and celebrations were kept to family and friends. Shahid and Mira are amongst those celebs who completed their family by embracing parenthood without keeping a much gap.
In the following year after their marriage on August 28, 2016, ShaMira (as their fans fondly call them), became parents to a baby girl whom they named, Misha Kapoor. After two years, on September 5, 2018, the duo welcomed a baby boy and named him, Zain Kapoor. On and off, they keep giving us serious family goals! Currently, Shahid and Mira have taken out some time from their jam-packed schedules and are enjoying their couple vacation in London. Mira and Shahid have been giving us glimpses from their holiday through their social media handles. Lately, Mira has taken again to her Insta stories and shared a picture of a bigg (like literally!) pizza. And another story of hers has a video of Shahid binging on it, atop which Mira wrote, “He ate the whole thing.”
Revealing that he was in his Tommy zone of Udta Punjab when he had first met Mira for marriage, Shahid was quoted as saying, “Mira and I never dated. We just met three to four times and decided to get married. I was about to start shooting for Udta Punjab when I met first met Mira. Shahid had further added, “It was adventurous of Mira to agree to marry a guy who looked like Tommy. I also remember telling her — 'I am going to colour my hair.' You should have seen her face. She is this 20-something girl coming out of LSR College and she was like 'What?' And when I told her I am playing a character called Tommy, she said, 'That is not the name of a guy, it is the name of a dog.”
In an interview with Famously Filmfare, Shahid had revealed an interesting detail about his first meeting with Mira, and had said, “It was a lovely evening and light was falling on her face. She just turned towards me and smiled and said something. During the course of the discussion, Shahid was asked if he is more protective about his children because of the childhood he had and seeing his own parents get divorced. To this, the Kabir Singh actor had quipped, “My wife tells me that I am a little obsessive and protective and that I need to calm down a little bit. I tell her that she is too casual. Having said that, we try and find the middle ground which I think is good for the kids because you need to have both types of parents. If both are too obsessive or both are too careless, I don't think that works, so you need to find that balance.”
Once Mira was all-praises for her husband Shahid and had remarked, “Shahid is an extremely loving and supportive husband. It comes naturally to him. The smallest things he does make me smile and feel so loved, like when I wake him up in the middle of the night with a foot cramp and he soothes it.”
Adding further, she was quoted as saying, “Or how hands-on he is with Misha and has really made sure she doesn’t feel the lack of my attention and presence, especially in these last few weeks where I can’t pick her up or play very much with her. It’s everything put together. Shahid is one of the doting daddies in the Tinseltown and in interaction with Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra, he had revealed which movies he would want Misha to watch. Shahid was quoted as saying, “Only cartoons nursery rhymes and all yaar. Something for her some really great animation film or sound of music or something maybe like you know West Side Story or which is exciting for her as a child to watch because you know you like those kinds of things at that age so I rediscover that with her you know rather than giving us something I like really not my idea of watching a movie with my daughter or whatever she likes and learning to enjoy with her you know.”
