Minnie Driver Once Called Her Relationship With Matt Damon A Sweet Affair, Had 'Combustible Ending'

Amid her revelations, fans have once again become curious about Minnie’s relationship with Matt.
Minnie Driver had deemed her relationship with Matt Damon as a “sweet love affair”
Minnie Driver and Matt Damon's relationship began after they filmed the 1997 movie, Good Will Hunting. However, their relationship came to an end even before the movie could hit the award show circuit. According to Minnie, her family had already predicted that things might end badly for them. She recalled:
"My family loved Matt -- it wasn't that. It was that they could see that this young man was rocketing really fast and so was I, and when you're young, it's pretty hard to keep your head on straight and to maintain a grounded sense of deportment. They were like, 'This may well end badly for reasons that are to do with all these things coming together in a perfect storm.'"
Minnie witnessed their breakup play out in public. During an interview, she said that it felt strange and like a surreal dream the way the magazines were all talking about her split with Matt. However, neither she nor Matt could help how their life was being picked over since they are famous. She added:
"It's funny now, when I think about walking down the magazine aisle in my local supermarket at midnight with my best friend, we were like, 'Are you seeing this? This is super weird.' My friend, Alexandra, was like, 'Oh my god, I can't believe this is happening, like, I feel like we're in a movie. I would totally watch this movie, even though I know you're super heartbroken, but this is really weird.'"
According to Minnie, things got worse when she and the cast of Good Will Hunting had to prepare to promote the film for the awards season. She recalled that a guy had been sent to always keep an eye on her and wait for the chance when she would break down. She described the person as a “wildlife photographer waiting for the kill.” Minnie credited her dad for getting her through this phase as well as her breakup with Matt.
She said, “He was just squeezing my hand, and so he was doing what a dad does, which is protecting their kid.” Despite all the drama that ensued after her breakup, Minnie continues to look back fondly on her relationship with Matt Damon. Calling their time with each other “a sweet love affair,” she shared:
"I tell that story with love, because that was just a sweet romance that was just a sweet love affair in the center of all of that stuff, but had a combustible ending, which then became the focus. Another thing that my parents taught me was there just isn't any time to sit around feeling resentful or angry, just have to get on, and everybody had a beautiful life."
Minnie Driver shared the details of her car accident
Minnie recently posted a photo of herself wearing a neck brace on her Instagram. She revealed that she had been in a serious accident while driving along a country road in France with her friend. Minnie explained that the accident happened when another vehicle failed to stop at an intersection and slammed into their car.
As per the actress, there were safety features in her car that saved their lives. Minnie admitted that she had never been in a car crash before and that the “360-degree airbags are what saved our lives.”
