Well, all things apart, Mika Abdalla has been garnering attention with her role as 'Allie' in the series, and people have been wishing to know more about her personal life. Why did Mika Abdalla break up with her fiancé, Jake Short?

Sources recently confirmed to Us Weekly that Mika Abdalla has called off her engagement with her beau, Jake Short. While the official cause of the breakup was not revealed, fans on social media have started speculating about the same. While some might think that her chemistry with 'Dean', played by Stephen Kalyn, might have been the reason, it's untrue. Stephen Kalyn is happily engaged to Victoria Lovatsis, and they have been together since 2012. Stephen and Mika's chemistry in the series was absolutely for the needs of the series, i.e. the reel-life, and there's nothing from real-life. Mika herself, in an interview, said that Stephen is her best friend, and he's like a brother to her.

To mention, people have also been claiming that one of the main reasons for Mika and Jake's breakup could be fame. There's no denying the fact that the actress's popularity shot up with the series, and the second season is said to be based more on her character 'Allie' and Stephen's 'Dean's love story, which will bring more for the actress. Mika and Jake first met on the set of Sex Appeal back in 2021, wherein they played best friends who experimented with sex. Soon, the couple started dating, and by 2025, they were engaged. Jake Short's manager, Brian Medavoy, who, on an IG post, announced that his client was engaged to the love of his life, Mika. In an interview, Jake Short replied with a 'no' when he was asked if he is the kind of person who thinks that a person should get married as soon as they are engaged, although he described himself as someone who would want to have kids soon after getting married.

Speaking of Jake Short, he is a famous child star, who had his hands on the Kids' Choice Award for Favourite TV Actor, for his role as 'Fletcher Quimby' in the series A.N.T. Farm from 2011 to 2014. He was also seen in Mighty Med and Lab Rats: Elite Force, and as of 2026, he took the seat of director, with this short film, wherein he collaborated with Bradly Steven Perry.
