Kareena Kapoor Khan is rightly hailed as the queen of the Hindi film industry. Be it her evergreen charm, unmatchable beauty or sassy responses, Bebo wins it all with her personality. Apart from her amazing plethora of films, she has also garnered a lot of attention for a few of her controversial remarks, which reverberate even today. And it was one such remark about eminent filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali that gets highlighted yet again.
In one of her previous interviews with Filmfare in 2002, Kareena Kapoor had lashed out her angst against the filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for doing her wrong right at the initial stages of her career. Well, according to Bebo, Sanjay had shortlisted her for portraying the role of ‘Paro’ in Devdas, and even offered her the signing money. However, later she was surprised to know that he replaced her at the last minute and instead roped in Aishwarya Rai for the role. Venting her anger, Bebo concluded that she never wished to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali ever again, even if she was totally jobless. In her words:
“Sanjay tested me for Devdas, gave me a signing amount and then took someone else. That was wrong. It hurt, especially since I was at the start of my career. But it’s okay because the day he dropped me, I signed Subhash ji’s Yaadein. Sanjay hurt me. Even if I have no work, I’ll never work for him.”

In response, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, too had to share something on his behalf. He revealed that he was stunned after learning Kareena’s accusations, where she even called him incapable of making films. Revealing more on the backstory, Sanjay revealed that in front of Kareena’s mother, Babita and her sister, Karisma, a look test photoshoot was done of her, to see if she suited the role. Moreover, he also mentioned that he never confirmed roping in Kareena, and when compared with the pictures of Aishwarya, he found the latter a better fit and went ahead with her. In his words:
“I needed to see what she was capable of. We fixed up a photoshoot with the right costumes. Since Babitaji and Karisma Kapoor were also at the shoot, I made it clear to all of them that the shoot wasn’t a confirmation. They were okay with that at the time. After going through the photographs, I told Kareena that I felt Aishwarya Rai was fabulous and perfect for Paro, she has the aristocratic looks I required. Kareena didn’t say a word then, but some days later, I found her lashing out at me in print.”
In her personal life, Kareena is happily married to the man of her dreams, Saif Ali Khan. For the unversed, Saif was previously married to actress, Amrita Singh and they were blessed with two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Well, speaking about Bebo, she entered Saif’s life 8 years post his divorce. Interestingly, she never did get a chance to meet with Amrita. Speaking about the same in one of her previous interviews, Kareena had mentioned:
“No, but I have utmost respect and regard for her. We've never met. I met Saif many years after he got divorced. So, it was not on anyone's time. He was clearly single.”

Well, despite being the second wife of Saif Ali Khan, Kareena shares a warm bond with her step-children, Sara and Ibrahim. While she has never tried to take the place of their mom, she has equally given them both the space to share an unchangeable bond with their father. Spilling the beans on the same, Kareena, during her stint in Koffee With Karan had revealed that she would always remain friends with Sara and Ibrahim and they would have her support regardless of anything.
