'Get Used To Seeing Older Women..' Kangana Ranaut Slams Trolls Targeting Aishwarya Rai's Cannes Look

Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been hogging the spotlight for quite some time ever since her appearance at the recent Cannes Film Festival. As a longtime regular, her red carpet appearance this year, too, did not fail to turn heads. However, while many praised Aishwarya's fashion choices, some social media users did not hold back while criticising her look, even going as far as to body-shame her. Amid the trolling, what caught everyone's attention was Kangana Ranaut coming in support of Aishwarya and how the actress was not there to please anyone.

Kangana Ranaut is proving that when it comes to supporting her fellow actresses, she is not one to back away from speaking her mind. A while ago, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, she took to her Instagram Story to share a photo of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's look from the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. In the picture, Aishwarya could be seen flaunting her blue mermaid-finish gown designed by Amit Aggarwal. By posting the picture, Kangana also took the opportunity to slam the trolls who have been going after Aishwarya's looks, stating:

"Fashion and style is a self expression, it is one’s own interpretation of life and their attitude, no woman owes anything to anyone, Ash looks great!! Those of you who want to see her any other way, why don’t you show what you got?? She is not here to please you, she is glorious, if you are not used to seeing older women on red carpets, get used to them now. Thanks."

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore a royal blue couture gown called ‘Luminara’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her Cannes debut over a decade ago, in 2002. For her 2026 Cannes appearance, Aishwarya chose to wear a gown by designer, Amit Aggarwal. According to reports, Amit specially designed the customised gown around the idea of light in motion and named it ‘Luminara.’ It not only explores the idea of light as an illumination but also energy, movement, and force. 

Reportedly, to create Aishwarya's Cannes gown, Amit used a special embroidery style called Crystal Vein embroidery. It used thousands of hand-crafted crystal decorations, labouring for over 1500 hours to create multiple glowing, vein-like patterns across the dress. Sharing his vision with stylist, Mohit Rai and Aishwarya, Amit said: 

"Aishwarya has always approached Cannes with a strong sense of individuality and evolution. With Luminara, Mohit and I wanted to create something that felt less like a garment and more like an energy field around her. The piece explores the idea of light as strength, movement, and transformation; while honouring the extraordinary radiance she has carried through decades on the global stage."

Making her way onto the Cannes red carpet wearing the ‘Luminara’ gown, Aishwarya had all the attention of the paparazzi present there. The actress could be seen blowing kisses to the crowd. She also made heart signs and greeted everyone with a namaste. At one point, Aishwarya was spotted spending some time with her close friend, Eva Longoria.

Fans of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who loved her look soon took to social media to gush over the actress. One user wrote, “Look at the way the whole camera crew is turning towards her as she turns! Diva for a reason, violet blue.” Another wrote, “International diva, mother of Cannes, Queen of the world.” A comment read, “An icon. She has something special about her that people wait for her to arrive. It can't be just beauty. It's her overall nature that reflects on her beautiful face.”
