Bollywood actress, Kangana Ranaut has a history of controversies to her credit, courtesy of her outspoken personality. Shockingly enough, some of her rivalries even involve her co-stars from various movies. One such cold war was between Kangana and her Rangoon co-star, Shahid Kapoor. It all started when the actress, while promoting their film, openly commented about kissing Shahid for a scene in the film and called it disgusting. Moreover, Kangana's comments were so harsh that she received severe backlash from Shahid himself, making it clear that the two are not fond of each other.
Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor teamed up for the first time in Vishal Bhardwaj's film, Rangoon, in 2017. The film also featured actors like Saif Ali Khan and Richard McCabe in key roles. More than anything, it was Shahid and Kangana's on-screen kisses and electric chemistry that became the talk of the town. However, not many know that there was brewing tension between Shahid and Kangana during the shooting of the film, and the two made it clear in multiple media interviews that they aren't best of friends.

For the unversed, Shahid Kapoor sported a moustache for his role in the film, Rangoon. In an interview with DNA, Kangana Ranaut took a dig at the same and revealed that the actor's moustache was horrible. Recalling her conversation with Shahid during the shoot of the kissing scene, Kangana said:
"I don't like intimate scenes in a film. They are the most difficult to shoot. You have a formal equation with someone and suddenly you are into each other's mouth. That big moustache of Shahid is horrible. It was such a ... Not a turn-off but a tragedy of different level! When I asked him about it, he said he applies wax and has a running nose! Mera naak isme bah ke jaata hai."
There is no denying the fact that Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut are two extremely different people. And during the shoot, the two actors had to share the same cottage, which was a task in itself. In the same interview, Kangana described the experience as her nightmare and shared details about the same. She was quoted as saying:
"We were shooting in a remote location where a little makeshift cottage was erected. Shahid and I were sharing the cottages with our respective teams. Every morning, I would wake up to this mad hip- hop music. And he would exercise listening to crazy trance and techno songs blasting from the speakers. I was fed up and wanted to shift out. Sharing the cottage with Shahid was a nightmare."
Adding to that, Kangana Ranaut also mentioned that it was easier for her to adjust to the shooting location and its dynamics than Shahid Kapoor. She further added that throughout the shoot, Shahid was friendly one day and suspicious the other day. Speaking about her difficulties in blending in with Shahid, the actress said:
"Initially, it was a bit taxing because I was suddenly taken from an urban location to an extremely remote location with no network. But, gradually, it became a lot easier since I am a mountain girl. But Shahid would often freak out. He is very friendly on certain days but extremely suspicious on other days. Maybe that's again because of my intense expression. But even I can be like him. There are days when I get zoned out."

During the promotion of the movie, Rangoon, its lead actors, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor made it very clear that they did not get along well. However, when Shahid was told about Kangana's comment on their kissing scene, the actor was surprised. However, Shahid chose to put a hold on the fight and claimed that everything was cool between him and Kangana Ranaut. He also advised the actress to maintain good relations with her co-stars, as it would be helpful for her in the long run.
