After some high on entertainment episodes featuring Deepika Padukone-Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh-Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan-Sara Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor-Janhvi Kapoor; one could expect a bang after putting the real-life couple, Kajol and Ajay Devgn together on Karan Johar's Koffee couch. Though many celebrities appeared on Karan Johar’s celebrity talk show, Koffee With Karan, but nothing made the episodes more beautiful than the certain real-life couples sharing some beautiful instances of their life on the couch. The most awaited episode of Karan Johar interviewing the talented husband-wife duo, Kajol and Ajay, has proved to be a total entertainer with the promos. The trio can be seen together for the first time after their 2016 fallout over the release of their films, Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. While we will come to it later, let us show you two promos of Ajay and Kajol’s episode on Koffee With Karan that released on Star World India’s social media handles, and we are sure they will leave you in splits!
In the first promo, Ajay is seen complaining about Kajol taking 3 hours to correct her pictures to post on Instagram. He shares, “The problem is not clicking the picture, the problem is 3 hours they are only sitting and correcting their picture so that they can post it.” Further teasing Kajol about her old age, he added, “She has never done it in her life, budhape me aa ke, I don’t know…” To which, Kajol immediately intervened and said, “Tumhara budhapa hoga, mera to nahi hai.”
Then, when Karan asks Ajay, “She talks and you listen?”, he replied, “No, she talks and I don’t listen.” There is no denying that Kajol’s energy is unbeatable, just like her performance. And her husband, Ajay makes sure he matches up to her madness with his wittiness. In the Rapid Fire segment, when Karan asks Ajay, “One lie that every actor from the film fraternity tells”, he retorted, "I love my wife!" To this, Kajol gave him a death stare and he said he was talking about others.
In another promo, Ajay is seen pulling his wife’s leg saying all the new age actors can now play the role of her son rather than her leading hero. Ajay and Kajol’s typical husband-wife banter didn’t end here. During the Time Out session, when Ajay was asked about his wedding anniversary date, he fumbled and gave a wrong answer. Coming back to Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar’s box office clash, things got worse when the former accused the latter of paying for the good reviews of his film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. And his wife, Kajol, who has been a close friend of Karan Johar for a long-time, supported her husband in the whole scenario. Speaking about the rift, Karan was quoted as saying by CNN-News18, "Ajay Devgn called me and shouted at me and said some really nasty things because he heard at a party that I had said some things about his wife. She was one of my closest relationships, as close as family could get, but it got unpleasant."
Karan wrote about this clash and the impact it had on their relationship in his autobiography, An Unsuitable Boy. He stated, "The problem was actually never between her and me. It was between her husband and me. I felt that she's not going to acknowledge 25 years of friendship, if she wants to support her husband, then that's her prerogative." He added, “She was the one who mattered to me but now it's over. I wouldn't like to give a piece of myself to her at all because she's killed every bit of emotion I had for her for twenty-five years.”
The fight soured Kajol and Karan's relationship, which was mended after several months later when she called up to congratulate Karan on the birth of his twins, Yash Johar and Roohi Johar. Kajol, while sharing a behind-the-scene Boomerang video from the Koffee With Karan sets, wrote, "All is well" with a mischievous wink emoticon.
