In the 90s when the film industry was ruled by the Khans, one actor that slowly climbed the ladder of success, right under the nose of the popular celebrities was Ajay Devgan, son of late stunt director, Veeru Devgan. Ajay had made his father's dream true by being the star of every hit film and creating a niche for himself. Over the years, he has stayed away from unnecessary controversies and let his work do the talking. It's been three decades in the industry yet he still continues to woo the audience on the silver screen. In the year 1991 with film, Phool Aur Kaante, Ajay had made a place as an action star in the hearts of millions of Indians. While he is happy on making a name for himself, he is more proud of living his father's legacy and fulfilling his dream of becoming an actor. We still remember how once in an interview, Ajay's father, Veeru ji had stated that he had lived his dream of becoming an actor through his son. It was in the year 1957 when Veeru ji took the decision of entering the film industry and he came to Mumbai in the hope of becoming an actor. But he couldn't make it to the big screens as he didn't had the chocolate face which was trending at that time. And he took the vow of making his first son a hero.
Today, on November 11, 2019, Ajay Devgan's wife, Kajol took to her Instagram and posted a special note for him on completing thirty years in the industry. She shared a poster of his upcoming film, Tanhaj, and alongside it, she wrote, "30 yrs & 100 films old. An occasion that definitely calls for a moment. From Phool Aur Kante to Zakhm to Golmaal to Shivaay and now finally Tanhaji! Through all the hard-won Fridays I’ve seen you go through. All characters lead back to you. Proudly wishing you a very happy 100th film birthday @ajaydevgn."
In an interview with the Filmfare magazine, Ajay had talked about completing 30 years in the film industry. He had stated, "You work hard in every role. Some are appreciated, some are not. But that does not mean you didn’t give your best. Of course, it’s satisfying when a film works, because it proves the hard work has paid off and many people have watched it." This year Ajay had also completed twenty years of 'happily married' life with his wife, Kajol. The couple had tied the knot on February 24, 1999, and their chemistry is still the same, only now they value each other even more. In an interview with DNA, Ajay had talked about the secret of his successful relationship with Kajol. He had said, “The best part is that we’ve never asked each other to be what we aren’t. If she needs space, she can have it and if I need space, she never grudges that. We can sit together in a room for hours, doing our own thing and we don’t feel uncomfortable that we’re not talking. You can only get along with people who are unobtrusive yet, at the same time, we’re together.”
Earlier, in an interview with Neha Dhupia's chat show, No Filter Neha, Kajol had revealed how her family didn’t want her to get married to Ajay. She had said, “Nobody wanted Ajay and me to get married. My family was very confused. My father didn’t talk to me for a week when I told him I wanted to get married. Ajay and I were very different people which is why a lot of people had reservations. They doubted how we would be as a couple because we were not very social back then either.” She had further stated, "We have survived because both of us have worked through it together. We have two kids. It’s almost like we have become one person who have these two children as their arms."
