Taking to their respective Instagram handles on September 6, 2023, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas broke their silence on their divorce rumours and acknowledged the same. Sharing the same picture notes, the duo penned a brief yet impactful announcement of their divorce and called it a mutually decided, amicable decision made by the both of them. Further in the note, the ex-partners requested everyone to grant them privacy, not just for themselves, but also for their children. The note can be read as:
“Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

Now that both Joe and Sophie have cleared the rumours with their official announcement, newer reports about their divorce have come to surface. The official documentation of the divorce was filed in the Miami Dade-County court in Florida. Moreover, Joe Jonas will be moving ahead in seeking the custody of their daughters. For the unversed, the right for custody is under a prenuptial agreement that the ex-couple had signed at the time of their wedding.
As per previous reports by TMZ, troubles had started brewing between Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner for the past six months. The small issues had even escalated into serious troubles, and it was reported that Joe was single-handedly raising their daughters for the last three months. Moreover, it was pointed out that the sharp distinction of lifestyle between Joe and Sophie was one of the foremost reasons behind their split. Apparently, Sophie’s excessive fondness for parties led to their massive dissent.
