Karan Johar is one of the most popular filmmakers of this era. He has an illustrious career, spanning over 25 years now, to his credit, and almost every other A-lister in Bollywood wants to work with him. Even before he started making movies, KJo became a part of the entertainment world due to his father, Yash Johar. The filmmaker grew up with star kids and shares a cordial bond with them even today.
Karan Johar has a close friendship with Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. And recently, speaking to Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra on their podcast, the filmmaker revealed how Jaya Bachchan once slapped Shweta after she caught her reading a filmy magazine with him. Karan said:
“We had very normal mothers who made sure that we… I remember there was a cardinal rule that none of us were allowed to read film magazines. So, I was the only one who would try to sneak in CineBlitz and Star Dust, till one day Jaya Aunty actually slapped Shweta because she was reading Star Dust along with me.”

Speaking along the same lines, Karan Johar revealed that he was trying to tell Shweta about the gossip column in the Stardust magazine. He revealed that back in those days, blind items came under the tag of 'Blind Cat'. The filmmaker added:
“I was trying to tell Shweta what Nita’s Natter was, which was the gossip column in the first four pages. It was what today we’d call as blind items, it was called the Cat’s Crown. It was called the Blind Cat, yeah.”
Now that the video has gone viral on Reddit, several netizens reacted to the same. Some social media users even defended Jaya Bachchan for slapping her daughter, Shweta. While one user wrote, “I mean the second part is correct? She will obviously try to protect her daughter?”, another penned, “She was right....I mean Big B and Rekha thing was floating around.” However, a netizen wrote, “Imagine getting slapped for reading a magazine that too a filmy one.”

Once, the Bachchan clan, including Amitabh, Jaya, Shweta and Abhishek, graced Simi Garewal’s chat show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal. During the same, Shweta revealed that Jaya was partial towards Abhishek. But Jaya denied the claim and stated that her daughter often says the same. Then, Simi played an old clip of Jaya and Amitabh, in which the actress had shared that Shweta was a difficult child and got a lot of whacking from her. In her defence, Jaya said that Shweta used to answer her back, so she had to hit her.
