After the stunning posters and piquing curiosity of the viewers, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's debut film, Dhadak’s trailer finally unveiled on June 11, 2018. With the sweet romance between the protagonists, the beautiful locales of Rajasthan, melodious background music, Karan Johar’s Dharma Production film, Dhadak took the nation through a 3-minute impressive ride. While Janhvi and Ishaan looked like a breath of a fresh air, they are surely the highlight of the year with Dhadak. The trailer launch of the film Dhadak, which is the remake of a popular Marathi film Sairat, was organised at the PVR Cinemas, Juhu, Mumbai. Janhvi and Ishaan arrived at the venue together. While Janhvi looked mesmerising in a green and pink anarkali dress, Ishaan sported a casual look with jeans, t-shirt and a red jacket.
The Kapoor clan including Janhvi Kapoor's dad Boney Kapoor, sister Khushi Kapoor, chachu Anil Kapoor, cousin Harshvardhan Kapoor, cousin Mohit Marwah and his wife Antara, chachu Sanjay Kapoor with wife, Maheep Kapoor and children Shanaya Kapoor and Jahaan Kapoor were present by Janhvi’s side on her special day. Ishaan's mother, Neelima Azim dropped by to support her son on his big day. Director Shashank Khaitan and producer Karan Johar graced the launch and stood by the debutants, Janhvi and Ishaan's side.
But despite everyone from her family being present on her big day, Janhvi Kapoor missed the presence of the most special person in her life. While answering to the media at the trailer launch of her film, Dhadak, Janhvi reflected nervousness and excitement but she tried her best to keep calm when asked about her mother, Sridevi Kapoor. When asked about her mother Sridevi, Janhvi on the verge of breaking down said that she misses her at the trailer launch. Janhvi was quoted as saying, "I definitely miss her today. The biggest and most helpful tip she has given me is to work hard and to feel every emotion." She also revealed that Sridevi wanted a film like Sairat to be Janhvi’s debut.
Janvi stated, "I saw 'Sairat' with mom at home and I remember telling her 'I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it.' Me and mom had this big discussion how even she wanted a role like this for me and then you (Karan) called and it happened." After watching the trailer, we can definitely say that Janhvi will take her mother’s legacy forward on the silver screen. Janhvi shared the tip that Sridevi gave to her for her big Bollywood debut, and remarked, “The biggest and most helpful tip that she has given me is to work hard and feel every emotion, and I think that I have tried to do that.” About her father, Boney Kapoor, Janhvi shared, "Papa did not give me any acting tips, but love, encouragement and a lot of support. So I think that is more than enough."
Even Janhvi’s younger sister, Khushi Kapoor couldn’t hold back her happy tears after watching her sister’s dream turning into reality. Khushi broke down and hugged her sister, Janhvi on the stage itself. In an interview with Vogue, Janhvi talked about Khushi and said, “I’ve always been very bad at that. Khushi is very maternal with me. I am a full baby. She takes care of me. Janhvi also revealed her mother, Sridevi’s reaction after watching 25 minutes of her film, “She was very technical about it. The first thing she told me was the things I needed to improve — she felt the mascara was smudged and it really bothered her. The second half has to be different, she told me… ‘You can’t wear anything on your face.’ That’s all she told me, but she was happy.”
Even Janhvi’s proud sister, Anshula Kapoor who missed the launch took her Instagram to express her excitement for the film and wrote, “Aaaaaaah My cutie @janhvikapoor’s trailer is out now for the world to see and I cannot be more proud, or more excited! My mind has officially been blown by both my Jaanu & @ishaan95! How phenomenal is the trailer and how fantastic are both of them?? Hit it out of the park and how! 20th July, why you so far away? Janhvi Kapoor’s brother, Arjun Kapoor, who is in London shooting for his upcoming film, too missed the launch but apologised to Janhvi by saying that he is ‘by her side’. Arjun tweeted, “Tomorrow you will be part of the audience forever @janhvikapoor cause your trailer comes out... Firstly, sorry I’m not there in Mumbai but I’m by your side, don’t worry. I just wanted you to know this profession is amazing if you work hard, be honest, learn to take the accolades with the brickbats, respect opinions, yet follow ur own path & instinct. It’s not gonna be easy but I know you are ready for all the madness that will ensue. All the best for #dhadak! I’m certain my friends @shashankkhaitan & @karanjohar have presented you & @ishaan95 as the modern Romeo & Juliet with elan!!!”
