Legendary actress and Bollywood’s Chandni was felicitated posthumously with the National Award in the Best Actress category for the performance in her last film, Mom. Sridevi’s husband, Boney Kapoor and her daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor went to Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi to receive the award. To make this day even more special, Janhvi chose the outfit mindfully and wore Sridevi’s favourite saree from her personal collection. With resembling eyes and looks, Janhvi looked like the spitting image of her mother.
One of the pictures that went viral from the event is a perfect blend of emotion and reminiscence. Amidst the overwhelming emotions, what was really commendable that how Janhvi held herself throughout the National Film Awards function. Like literally stepping into her mother’s shoes, Janhvi stood as a pillar of strength to her father, who got emotional when Sridevi’s name was announced for the award. In the picture, we can see Janhvi wiping off her father, Boney Kapoor’s sweat, and we can’t help but find the resemblance between her and Sridevi. In another picture that is getting viral on the internet is dug up from the Filmfare Awards ceremony in 2013. Similar to the father-daughter moment at the National Film Awards 2018, is the picture of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor where we can see her wiping off her husband’s sweat from his forehead. Speaking to DNA, proud daughter Janhvi stated, "I want to thank the jury and the government of India for recognising the hard work my mother has done. It is very special for us as a family." Boney Kapoor was quoted as saying, "I wish she was here. She truly deserved this award. It's so unfortunate that she is not here with us today to celebrate. I am grateful to the government of India, the I&B Ministry and the jury. It is a proud moment for all of us but sadly she is not here." Boney Kapoor’s brother, Anil Kapoor took to his Twitter to share the 'proud and heartwarming moment' and tweeted, "Such a proud & heartwarming moment for all of us to watch these beautiful people accept an honor for the most incredible person there ever was!" Boney Kapoor who is keeping Sridevi’s Twitter account active after her untimely demise tweeted the pictures of her National Award. Boney Kapoor is extremely proud that after working for 50 years in the industry, Sridevi was felicitated for her work, but is also sad that she is not here to receive it. Boney shared, "I am extremely happy and proud. This is what she's got after working for 50 years in the industry; she would have cherished this award all her life. This is the highest honour. We miss her and today we miss her even more. I would have preferred, she going and accepting the award and me and my children sitting down and clapping for her."
