In a recent interview with KABC-TV’s Marc Cota-Robles, Jake Reiner spoke about the rage he felt after his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, were murdered. Calling it infuriating, Jake revealed that he felt helpless. Speaking about the same, he said:
“It manifests as rage, into how unfair this was, how I didn’t get a say in what happened. I didn’t get to stop it from happening. I had no choice in the matter. I just have to accept the reality of it. And to me, that is just one of the most infuriating parts of all of this.”
In the same conversation, Jake Reiner also revealed that the night his parents, Rob and Michele, were killed, he lost his whole family. Jake pointed out that after physically losing his parents, his brother, Nick, too, was arrested, leaving only him and his sister, Romy.
Going further in the conversation, Jake also reflected on his parents’ unconditional support for Nick Reiner as he struggled with drugs and substance abuse. Elaborating on the same, Jack said:
“My parents had unconditional love for all three of us. I can tell you they never stopped wanting to help him. They never stopped helping him.”
All about Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s murder
It was in December 2025 that American filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home. The couple’s daughter, Romy, was trying to reach out to her parents, and when none of them answered her calls, Romy went to their home to find them lying lifeless.
She immediately called 911, bringing authorities to the crime scene. Romy also claimed that her brother, Nick Reiner, was "dangerous" and could be a suspect in the case. Hours later, the police arrested the couple's son, Nick Reiner, and declared him the prime suspect in the murder of Rob and Michele. He was later charged with their murders. As per multiple reports, Rob told his close ones that he was scared of Nick's mental health issues and feared that his son could harm him.
As per multiple reports, it was on that particular night, after an argument, that Nick reportedly killed his parents by slitting their throats and stabbing them multiple times to death. After the gruesome act, he checked into a hotel, and a day later, when he checked out, the room was found to be filled with blood.
