The world is mourning Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, who was found dead alongside his wife, Michele, in their Brentwood home. It was Rob and Michele’s younger daughter, Romy Reiner, who informed the authorities after she failed to reach out to her parents. For the unversed, after failing to reach out to her parents, Romy reached Rob and Michele’s estate in Brentwood, Los Angeles, and found the lifeless bodies of her parents. She immediately called 911, bringing authorities to the crime scene.
As the investigations began, the initial reports cite fatal stab wounds. Rob’s son, Nick Reiner, is currently the prime suspect and was questioned by LAPD detectives. As per People, police believe that Nick Reiner was the prime suspect, but also clarified that no one is under arrest and that accusation came from “multiple sources who have spoken with family members.” As Nick’s name emerged as the prime suspect, let us read on to know more about him.

The second son of Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, Nick was born on September 14, 1993. Unlike his superstar father, Nick stayed out of the limelight and kept his life private. However, he has spoken openly about his struggles with substance abuse. Nick also revealed battling drug abuse from his teenage years. Nick entered rehab at the mere age of 15 and had been in and out a couple of times.

Nick has been in and out of shelter homes quite often, as he refused to return to treatment because he preferred to do things his own way rather than following the programs they recommended. As a result, he was homeless at 18. In an interview with People, Nick talked about spending nights on the streets and revealed:
“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas. I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun. While I was out there, I might have died. It's all luck. You roll the dice and hope you make it. That made me who I am now.”

After getting out of rehab at 19, Nick co-wrote the screenplay of Being Charlie, a film loosely based on the experiences of his life. The film was directed by his father, Rob, who considered it one of the most personal projects. In an interview, Nick revealed that his past experiences were beneficial not just for his scripting but also for understanding himself.

In an interaction with PEOPLE, Nick revealed that he had recovered from the addiction and got his life experiences in his work. In his words:
“I met crazy great people there, so out of my element. Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family. But there was a lot of dark years there.”

During the making of Being Charlie, Nick came close to his dad, Rob, unlike earlier. In an interaction with BUILD Series, Nick revealed that he was not close to his father while growing up. But he later said that working together on the film helped them reconnect. In his words:
"It really clicked for me because we didn’t bond a lot as kids.”
