A mom pleaded guilty to murdering her son, so his father could never get custody
A mom, named Madeline, pleaded guilty recently to first-degree murder. According to the prosecutors, Madeline is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison. If the reports are to be believed, she will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years, and is now awaiting sentencing. The incident for which she pleaded guilty is simply horrible.
The Post recently detailed what happened during the incident that led the mom to take the life of her 11-month-old baby boy. She reportedly also tried to kill herself; however, she couldn't do so as the officers had already arrived and were able to subdue her.
If the reports are to be believed, Madeline Veronique Daly took her son from Wyoming to New Mexico after the court issued an emergency custody order in favor of Jake Stoner. Madeline violated the court's orders and was on the run with her son. Reports revealed that the entire incident stemmed from a bitter custody dispute between Madeline and her husband, Jake Stoner. Apparently, Madeline breached the contract, and the dad reported that he last visited his son in September 2025. Following this, Jake Stoner went to court to seek custody of his child.
When Madeline failed to appear at a hearing, the court granted emergency custody to the father. On the other hand, Daly fled the state with her baby boy. As Jake reported that his son was missing, it prompted a felony kidnapping warrant against Daly. Following that, on December 23, 2025, it was revealed that the mom applied for a job in Silver City, Washakie County, Wyoming, and during the background check, the kidnapping warrant popped up.
The mom called the murder 'worth it'
Reportedly, on the same day, Daly was seen at a cafe with her son, Basil. When authorities arrived at the scene, Daly took her son and ran with him towards a motorized RV. The authorities were not able to enter without a warrant. While they were waiting for the same, at least a gunshot was heard. Eventually, it was seen that Madeline killed her baby and turned the 9mm handgun on herself.
However, the officers arrived and subdued her. According to the authorities, Madeline's only thought was 'Jake Stoner can't get Basli.' She reportedly told the officers that 'it was killing her baby worth it' as Jake Stoner and his relatives would never be able to see the baby.
She also alleged that the boy's father wanted to do nothing with the child financially or emotionally. She stated that she was not going to allow her baby to go 'back and forth from Nebraska to Wyoming twice a month,' adding that the little one would be in danger and would be molested.
