Irrfan had kick-started his acting journey with television after he had appeared in the show, Shrikant in 1987. A year later, in 1988, Irrfan had introduced himself to the Indian film industry with his debut film, Salaam Bombay. Since then, there was no looking back for the actor, who had given so many memorable performances during his illustrious career, that are second to none.
From starting his journey towards success with negative roles in Maqbool, Haasil to his comic and romantic style in Life in a… Metro to giving Indian cinema one of its finest biographical dramas in the name of Paan Singh Tomar, Irrfan Khan was an actor of a completely different breed. Ever since his demise, his massive fanbase across the globe and family members have never missed a chance to relive his memories through his films, pictures and interviews to ease the pain of his loss a bit.
Once in an interview with Dainik Bhasker, Irrfan Khan had opened up about one of the most colourful incidents of his life that proved that he was born with a heart of gold. The Angrezi Medium actor had shared that when he was 16 years old, he had fallen in love with his milkman's daughter. Irrfan had hilariously revealed that he used to buy milk from that milkman because he was madly in love with his daughter and had wanted to see her. However, Irrfan's love story had taken a sad twist when the girl had informed Irrfan that she loved someone else. Recalling the tragedy, Irrfan had shared that one day the girl had asked him to come to her room, and when Irrfan had reached there, she had told him to deliver a letter to her lover.
Further in the interview, when Irrfan Khan was asked whether he had delivered the letter or not. Answering this, Irrfan had shared that he had handed over the love letter written by his crush to her lover. It was a heartbreaking moment for the actor, but he had added that he had become a good friend of her after that incident. Soon, they had started playing together, and whenever she used to come to his house, Irrfan and the milkman's daughter would play hide and seek inside his home.
In the same interview, Irrfan Khan had also admitted that he used to think that the hide and seek game was something special for the girl because it was the only thing they did whenever they met. But once his cousin had arrived at his place, and they had started playing hide and seek. That's when Irrfan had told his cousin about the girl he had liked and how they had played hide and seek together. But, then, the actor's cousin had told him that it was ordinary for her as she used to play hide and seek with almost everyone. After hearing this, Irrfan's one-sided love story had ended forever, and the actor had admitted that he had listened to Kishore Kumar's sad songs for almost two weeks.
The actor had admitted that he had always respected the girl he loved despite being madly in love with her, but it was difficult for him to remain her friend. Thus he had preferred to get out of her life. Well, it had proved that the iconic dialogue, "Mohabbat hai isliye jaane diya… zid hoti toh baahon mein hoti", which he had said in the film, Jazbaa, was destined to be spoken by him. As in real life, Irrfan had understood this concept way early in his life and had done exactly the same when he had experienced his first heartbreak.
