Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleHanuman Ansh pulled off one of the most unexpected box-office turnarounds of 2026. The devotional drama, following the legendary life of Neem Karoli Baba, collected approximately Rs. 169.20 crore gross and Rs. 143.13 crore net in India by its 33rd day. This marks a massive jump for the film's mere budget of Rs. 2 crore.
The film's extraordinary success becomes even more interesting when its cast salaries are considered. Unlike big-budget Bollywood films where leading stars can charge several crores, the lead actors of Hanuman Ansh were reportedly paid in lakhs. Amid its breakout success, take a look at the salaries that the cast reportedly earned for the film.
Shobhinaw Satyaa reportedly earned Rs. 15 lakh for Hanuman Ansh
According to media reports circulating online, the combined remuneration of the six central cast members of Hanuman Ansh is around Rs. 38.5 lakh. Shobhinaw Satyaa, who plays adult 'Neem Karoli Baba' in the film, was the highest-paid actor in the film, with his salary reported to be around Rs. 15 lakh.
Satyaa's casting is itself an unusual part of the film's story. He wasn't the originally planned lead and was actually working as an assistant director. Whether you call it pure fate or just a coincidence, the actor originally chosen for the lead role fell seriously ill on the first day of shooting. Director-producer Dr. Vishal Chaturvedi then decided to cast Satyaa after noticing his resemblance to Neem Karoli Baba. Though not a mainstream actor, Satyaa did the role justice, to say the least. The newcomer stepped into the demanding lead role and has received considerable attention following the film's unexpected success.

Another key cast member was Chandan K. Anand, who plays 'Ram Nandan Bhosle' in the film. He reportedly earned around Rs. 8 lakh. Vihaan Shedge, who portrays the younger version of 'Neem Karoli Baba', is said to have received approximately Rs. 5 lakh. Veteran actor Anil Rastogi, who plays 'Mahant Ji', reportedly took home Rs. 4 lakh. Purnima Tiwari, who plays 'Ram Beti Sharma', Neem Karoli Baba's wife, reportedly earned around Rs. 3.5 lakh. Meanwhile, Gulshan Pandey, who plays 'Inspector Dharam Singh', is said to have received around Rs. 3 lakh.
Together, the reported salaries of these six actors come to around Rs. 38.5 lakh, a relatively small amount compared with the fees commanded by established Bollywood stars. Director-producer Vishal Chaturvedi also reportedly waived his directing fee to help keep the production costs low. However, the reported salaries have not been officially confirmed by the cast or its makers.
How a Rs. 2 crore film turned into a Rs. 169 crore blockbuster and this year's biggest surprise
When Hanuman Ansh hit the theaters on 7th August 2026, even the makers did not know that it would turn out to be such a huge hit. The film was initially screened on only 25 screens, opening with around Rs. 10 lakh. During its first week's run, it earned only about Rs. 1.08 crore.
However, the tables turned dramatically after its moderate run. The word of mouth was strong, and the audience kept pouring into the limited theaters. By the third week, the daily collections of the film started going up. Eventually, Hanuman Ansh made the low-budget devotional drama a real sleeper hit.

The film reportedly earned Rs. 70.25 crore in its first five days of its fifth week, including around Rs. 22.75 crore on its fifth Sunday. On day 33, the film added another Rs. 11 crore. The film has also managed to hold its ground despite the release of Mirzapur: The Movie on September 4, 2026. Hanuman Ansh has reportedly earned more than 84 times its production budget in gross collections, with approximately Rs. 143.13 crore net and Rs. 169.20 crore gross in India. In fact, the film has broken the fifth-week record of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar (2025), starring Ranbir Singh.
Amid the excitement around Hanuman Ansh, director Vishal Chaturvedi has confirmed that the story of Neem Karoli Baba is far from over. Producer Namrata Singh has even hinted at possible appearances by Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in Hanuman Ansh Part 2. While interacting with viewers, Vishal Chaturvedi revealed that the upcoming installment will explore important chapters of Neem Karoli Baba's life, focusing on his birthplace, Firozabad, and then moving to Agra, Mathura, and other locations associated with his life and spiritual journey.
When the film was officially announced on February 20, 2026, it was revealed that the project was planned as a trilogy. The spiritual saga is inspired by Divine Detour, a book written by Vishal Chaturvedi.
