As per a Page Six report, Halle and Martinez appeared and maintained their distance throughout their appearance for the testimony. The judge had agreed to close the courtroom during any testimony involving the minor child. Maceo testified on the first day of the hearing, while Berry testified later. However, during the recent testimony, Martinez was seen storming out of the court.
Sources said Berry and Martinez kept their distance and gave each other cold stares. While storming out of the court alongside his lawyer, Patrick Baghdaserians, Martinez looked agitated. Martinez was heard using profanity during an animated discussion with his lawyer. A staff member at the school Berry and Martinez’s 13-year-old son, Maceo, attends, was also set to testify in the closed court.
Halle Berry responded after the court granted a restraining order against her
The fiasco began on September 26, 2026, when Berry entered into Maceo’s room while he was playing a virtual reality game. According to the filing, Berry was furious and began pushing him, after which Maceo asked her to stop. Martinez revealed that the actress told their son he looked “so stupid” and was “such an idiot” for playing with the VR goggles.
The situation escalated and soon turned physical. As per the filing, Berry "grabbed Maceo by the neck and started choking him while shouting, ‘Who is dominant now?! Who is dominant?" Martinez stated that Maceo “had to fight back” and managed to escape Berry’s grip. After the incident, Martinez filed for sole custody of their son, Maceo. He also accused Berry of grabbing the child around the neck during the altercation and has also alleged previous incidents involving MMA-style chokeholds.
After Martinez’s accusations, Halle responded, claiming that her ex-husband is the root cause behind Maceo's recent behavioral issues at school. In the response submitted by the actress on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, she accused Olivier of repeatedly interfering with their teenage son's education and therapeutic needs.
As per Berry’s recent filing, Olivier’s influence on Maceo has led their son to completely disregard Berry’s authority as his mother. Revealing how it had negatively influenced the child, Berry claimed:
“Martinez’s refusal to allow early interventions has caused Maceo to fall further behind in school, caused Maceo’s acting out behaviors to worsen, and caused further damage to Maceo’s and [Berry’s] relationship.”
The actress has alleged that Olivier has repeatedly blocked recommendations for Maceo's education and mental health care over several years. She has also claimed that he encouraged their son to make major decisions about school and treatment himself, and drew him into the parents' conflict. Halle Berry has also claimed that Maceo's behavior has worsened significantly since the temporary restraining order took effect on October 1, 2026.
