Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleHalle Berry has been in the headlines after her ex-husband, Oliver Martinez, accused her of physically harming their son, Maceo. In his filing, he alleged that the actress choked their 12-year-old son after an altercation with him while he was playing a virtual-reality game. Since then, Berry’s personal life has been in the spotlight.
Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez attended co-parenting therapy for Maceo
In May 2024, Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez attended a ‘co-parenting therapy’ session. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Berry and Martinez began co-parenting with a coach to “resolve disputes and conflicts between them in an effort to successfully co-parent” for the sake of their 9-year-old son, Maceo.
The therapy had six individual sessions and six joint co-parenting sessions. Berry’s fiancé, Van Hunt, was also permitted to participate in the sessions. However, in August 2024, Berry alleged that Martinez stopped attending the sessions.

In her filing, she claimed that Martinez "unilaterally terminated" coaching sessions without telling her or the coach. She also claimed that Martinez "has chosen to repeatedly violate agreements and court orders with careless regard," revealing that his ‘conduct harms their son’.
In her filing, Berry noted that she and Martinez were supposed to complete their individual sessions before beginning joint sessions. The co-parenting therapist would then contact the necessary third parties (their son's school, therapists) amid the process. Elaborating on the same, she said:
"None of that has occurred. In fact, not a single conjoint session has been scheduled and not a single third party has been contacted."
Berry also revealed that Martinez was the one who recommended co-parenting therapy as a tactic to "delay intervention at all costs" and "interfere with Halle's relationship with Maceo without repercussion."
All about Halle Berry and her 12-year-old son’s choking incident
Halle Berry is facing allegations of being violent towards her minor son, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez. The incident happened on September 26, 2026, when Berry entered Maceo’s room while he was playing a virtual reality game. According to the filing, Berry was furious and began pushing him, after which Maceo asked her to stop. Martinez revealed that the actress told their son he looked “so stupid” and was “such an idiot” for playing with the VR goggles.
The situation escalated and soon turned physical. As per the filing, Berry "grabbed Maceo by the neck and started choking him while shouting, ‘Who is dominant now?! Who is dominant?" Martinez stated that Maceo “had to fight back” and managed to escape Berry’s grip. As the 12-year-old began screaming, Berry’s boyfriend entered the scene.

The filing also contains a screenshot of a call history Martinez submitted to support his account, showing several incoming and outgoing calls associated with Maceo. In the call and text messages, Maceo pleaded with his father to come and pick him up.
In his filing, Martinez revealed that this is not the first incident; Berry had put Maceo in chokeholds in the past as well. The father has now gone to court and requested to halt Berry’s visits with Maceo and grant him sole legal and physical custody. Meanwhile, Berry responded through her attorney, Marina Beck, who told TMZ the court filing was baseless.
