Oscar Winner, 35 Films Old, Guneet Monga's Reply To A Reporter Who Said, 'This Is Your First Film'

The film, which revolves around a Pakistani spy, features Sara Ali Khan opposite Khurrana. Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain produced the film. The cast recently attended the trailer launch and answered an array of questions from media persons.

During the launch, a reporter asked Guneet about the film and called it the producer’s first project. After hearing the reporter, Guneet and Ayushmann, sitting next to each other, were taken aback and looked at each other in shock. It was clear that the reporter had no idea about Guneet’s profile.

But as soon as the question was asked, Guneet uttered ‘first’ in a surprised reaction, and soon Ayushman began to count the projects like Lunchbox, Kill, and many other films Monga did. He also pointed out that she had even won an Oscar. Giving an epic response to the reporter, Guneet said:
“I have done more than 35 feature films.”

Guneet Monga needs no introduction. She is the founder of Sikhya Entertainment, which produced films like Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1, Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2, Peddlers, The Lunchbox, Masaan, Zubaan and Pagglait.
She is a two-time Academy Award-winning Indian producer who made history with her wins in the Best Documentary Short Film category. Her two films, Period. End of Sentence and The Elephant Whisperers marked a historic milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage in 2019 and 2023.
Though Guneet has a flourishing career, she has had her fair share of struggles. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Guneet talked about her childhood and revealed that she grew up in a one-room house because of a property dispute. She also revealed that her mother was suppressed so much that once their relatives tried to burn her alive.
Recalling the scariest moment of her life, Guneet said the family ran out of the house after the horrifying incident. After moving into a new house, the family began their second innings, and it was her mom, who dreamt of having a 3-bedroom house. To fulfill her mother’s dream, Guneet began working at the mere age of 16.
She worked hard and fulfilled her parents’ dream of having a house. However, as destiny had it, by the time the house was ready to move in, Guneet lost both her parents within a span of 6 months. Guneet was so heartbroken by the passing of her parents that she moved to Mumbai. Recalling the same, she revealed:
“Slowly we pooled our savings & booked a house. But by the time it was ready, I lost my parents within 6 months of each other. My mom had throat cancer & my dad’s kidneys failed... I was heartbroken. Needing a change, I packed my bags, sold the house & moved to Bombay for work. I channeled my energy into films. My dreams then became my director’s dreams. I was always on my feet & barely slept 4 hrs a day.”
