TV actor, Gaurav Khanna is hogging the limelight for all things personal. For the unversed, Akanksha Chamola, the wife of Anupamaa fame, Gaurav, dropped a bombshell in the first episode of the Netflix show, Lock Upp 2. Akanksha revealed that she and Gaurav are heading for a divorce. She mentioned that although nothing is bad between them, they feel that they are not right for each other as partners. During one of the episodes of Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav Khanna got candid about his and his estranged wife, Akanksha Chamola’s different points of view on family planning. While Gaurav wanted kids, Akanksha didn’t want kids. However, he respected Akanksha’s decision and explained that a woman shouldn’t be forced if she is not ready. Before entering the BB 19 house, Gaurav sat for an interview with Siddharth Kannan. He said:

"I want to respect that decision. It’s been nine years since our marriage. She doesn’t want kids. I have to respect that decision. If a woman is not ready, then you should not force her. But yes, I love kids. She loves kids, but she has her reasons for not…because absolutely, a mother’s frame of mind is absolutely essential for the child. Ma, ma hoti hai yaar."

When Akanksha Chamola opened up about her choice to not have kids

During the second day of Family Week of Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav and Akanksha reunited. However, it was Akanksha’s statement about not having kids that stole the spotlight. Speaking to Malti Chahar and Pranit More, Akanksha shared that she didn’t feel like having kids and even in the future it seemed difficult. Akanksha clarified that she was not scared but had her own decisions. She was quoted as saying:

"Future me bhi mujhe difficult lag raha hai. Mujhe nahi aa raha hai andar se, I don't feel the need to have a kid. Mere bohot saare reasons hain aur mujhe lagta hai jab aap itne saare reasons dhundte ho, then you are not ready. I am not scared of it. Baccha paida karna halwa banana nahi hota hai. Bohot badi responsibility hai. Mujhe nahi lagta hai main wo job ko utne ache se justify kar sakti hoon - at this age, at any age. Mujhe apna career banana hai, mere ambitions hain bohot saare, ab log usko selfish bole."

Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola's divorce: Is not having kids the reason behind their split?

Although Akanksha has announced their split and revealed that she and Gaurav are heading for divorce, the duo still follows each other on Instagram. Fans of the couple were totally shocked as Akanksha made his sudden announcement. While many have been wondering about the reason behind their split, it is not known whether it is all because of the couple’s different points of view on family planning. Akanksha revealed on the show, Lock Upp 2. She said:

"Gaurav Khanna and I are getting divorced. We have been living separately for the past year. This is a decision we have both taken. There is nothing bad between Gaurav and me. We still talk to each other, but we feel that we are not right for each other as partners. That is because we both want different things in life. All this has been going on since Bigg Boss 19. Gaurav’s parents and my parents told us to stay separately for some time. We are not getting that couple-like feeling anymore."
