Vicky Kaushal is rising high on his professional achievements at the moment, as he is soaking in a lot of praise and appreciation for his film, Sam Bahadur. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is a biopic of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw. Naturally, the actor has put in a lot of effort for the film, which has impressed a large number of people already. And now, the film gets a special review from someone very closely integral to India’s talented Army Chief.
During a pre-release event hosted by The Indian Express for the film, Sam Bahadur, the daughter of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, Maya made a rare appearance as she lauded the film for remembering her father in the most beautiful way. She talked about watching the film twice and revealed how she tears up every time especially during the last scene of the film. In her words:
“Pride will always be there. “They have made the film to make the country proud of whatever it was. But, the time that I tear up, every time, I’ve seen the film twice now, and I’ve teared up both times, is the last two seconds of the film when you turn to the audience, and you’re smiling. That just kills me every time.”

Earlier, on November 30, 2023, Katrina Kaif shared the poster of her husband, Vicky Kaushal’s film, Sam Bahadur on her IG handle. Reviewing the masterpiece of a film, the actress penned a lengthy yet heartwarming note of appreciation for her husband’s exemplary performance. An excerpt from the longish note can be read as:
“And SAM !!!!….. GRACE, HEROISM , GRIT .What a performance, flawless, I’m just astounded, you are too inspiring, true to your craft in the most brilliant integral way , was so proud to watch you shine your way across the screen . I’ve seen you this last year pour yourself into this film and transform into Sam. A performance to be remembered.”
During a promotional event for his film, Sam Bahadur, Vicky Kaushal was asked if he ever took back some of the qualities of Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw while working on his biopic. In his response, the actor mentioned that he was able to place himself in the shoes of the legendary army chief and added how he learnt from the character to take tough decisions within high stakes.

Well, this isn’t the first time when Vicky has taken up a biopic for the choice of film. Known for his slightly pathbreaking career of films, he earlier worked in the 2021-film, Sardar Udham, directed by Shoojit Sarcar. The film navigated the biographical narration of Indian freedom fighter, Udham Singh from Punjab, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer to avenge the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
