Smriti Irani had entered the glamour world at a very young age and had become a household name with her stint as ‘Tulsi Virani’ in Ekta Kapoor’s superhit show, Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. That was the foundation of an almost two-decade-long friendship between Ekta Kapoor and Smriti Irani. They are each other’s confidant, and their friendship is only growing stronger with every passing year.
Smriti Irani turned 45 on March 23, 2021. To wish her bestie on her birthday, Ekta Kapoor posted some unseen pictures with her and penned a sweet note. Ekta's birthday wish for Smriti can be read as "Happie bday buddy ! There is no one. Like u ! A super mom... wife ...friend ...human and a leader extraordinaire ! Today get off ur diet pls ! U have lost a lot of weight n I’m jealous ! Happie bdayyy."
On June 26, 2020, Ekta Kapoor had taken to her Instagram handle to share a major throwback video of her soul sister, Smriti Irani from her Miss India days. Smriti Irani had participated in Miss India 1998, and Ekta had shared a video of her introduction clip from the same. Along with it, Ekta had penned an appreciation post for her bestie. She had written, “Appreciation Post for my friend Smriti Irani who started off not winning Miss India but went on to become a household name. This is for people who think that success comes easy...it is tough, it is hard but it comes to all those who work hard. Smriti became a household name, today is a minister.”
Ekta Kapoor had further talked about how Smriti ji’s persona has changed from being a simple, shy girl to a strong powerful woman. She had added, “Her whole persona has changed into a powerful yet humble politician. But when she started off, she was a meek, shy, simple girl who had walked into Balaji...and we knew her smile would win hearts.”

Talking about how Smriti Irani maintains a relationship with everyone, and how proud Ekta is of her, she had concluded, “Recently, a colleague of hers, who hasn't worked with her, called her up for help, she immediately helped that person. On International Women's day 2020, Ekta Kapoor had lauded her bestie, Smriti Irani and had written, “This woman started working with me then became my best friend then went on to take on d world of politics! She is adept to talk on anything from art politics business movies... and has perfected the art of parenting (if there is anything as perfect) multitasking balancing multiple roles.”
