Deepika Padukone’s relationship with Ranbir Kapoor has always been one of the most hotly debated gossip bits of Tinseltown. It even attracted a lot of headlines when Deepika revealed cheating as the reason behind their breakup, which led the actress to suffer depression for the longest time. Nevertheless, fast forward to today, both the ex-partners are happily settled in marriages with their soulmates.
While Ranbir and Deepika might not have been destined to be together, nevertheless, the latter shared a warm bond with the former’s parents, late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Proof of the same was found in a moment when in 2018, during the release of her film, Padmaavat she received tons of praises and appreciation from Rishi and Neetu. They had watched her film and were in awe of her powerful performance in the film. Therefore, they sent her a bouquet of flowers and a sweet note along with it, which read:
“Excellent work!!! So very proud of you. Love Neetu and Rishi Kapoor.”

Well, Deepika was certainly over-joyed with such an amazing response she received from her ex-beau’s parents, Rishi and Neetu, not to forget the fact that they themselves have been legendary actors in the film industry. So to reciprocate the same, she thanked them by sharing a post on her IG handle and wrote:
“It was so lovely seeing both of you yesterday. Thank You for all the love & appreciation! @neetu54 #RishiKapoor"
Ranbir and Deepika were never meant for each other, but it should be incorrect to say that they did not enjoy a few good moments together. However, there was once a time when Deepika’s remark towards her then-beau, Ranbir did not go well with his father, Rishi Kapoor. It so happened that in an episode of the celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan, when the host, Karan Johar asked Deepika what brand should her then-beau, Ranbir Kapoor start endorsing, she mentioned condoms as her answer. But her answer upset Rishi Kapoor and it was Karan Johar who later revealed the same in an interview. In his words:
“Many times, it has happened that I had to step in to douse the fire after rapid-fire. I remember when Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone came to the show and spoke whatever they had to, Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) was very upset. I had to step in to make things alright.”

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s sudden breakup came at a time when nearly everyone was expecting them to walk down the aisle anytime soon. Nevertheless,it did start a fair share of gossip and made people raise their eyebrows. They were keen to figure out if Deepika did not fit in well with Ranbir’s parents, especially her mom, Neetu Singh. Quite later on, in an interview on Rajat Sharma’s popular show, Aap Ki Adaalat, the Rockstar actor revealed whether his mom was the reason behind his breakup. In his words:
“It's an issue between two individuals, but people work on several theories and then disturb things. My mother loves me a lot and wants me to live my own life. My mother is also very fond of Deepika. So, at least this was not the reason for the split. I want to clarify, my mother was not the reason for the break-up."
