Rishi Kapoor had left this world in April 2020 after fighting a long battle with leukaemia and even today, his unapologetic self in throwback interviews and media interactions bring a smile on our faces, proving he’ll remain forever Not Out in our hearts. Kabhie Kabhie he used to make us laugh with his Khel Khel Mein tweets and was our Pehla Pehla Pyaar for stealing our heart with his Zinda Dil. Rishi Kapoor became a Deewana of his Amar Akbar and Anthony co-star, Neetu Singh and the Mulk was aware of his Prem Rog. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor had cemented their relationship in 1980 and their relationship was a real proof of the wedding vow, ‘til death does us apart! In their beautiful journey, the couple was blessed with two kids, Riddhima Kapoor (1980) and Ranbir Kapoor (1982).
Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, was released on 15 January 2017 and it is a good read with a refreshing honesty of the actor. In his candid demeanour, Rishi Kapoor had revealed in the book exactly when his wife, Neetu Kapoor had conceived their son, Ranbir Kapoor. Living up to the title of his autobiography, Mr Kapoor had written, “If I remember right, Neetu conceived Ranbir during this time, (the shooting of Prem Rog) when we were picturizing ‘Meri kismet mein tu nahi hai shayad’. It makes the song even more special for us.”
In a 2015 Mumbai Mirror interview, Rishi Kapoor had revealed that he is proud of his son, Ranbir Kapoor for fostering a respectable image among his peers and gave credit to his wife, Neetu Kapoor. Rishi ji had remarked, “I’m told, and I’m very proud of it, that Ranbir is very well behaved, polite, down to earth, decent, cultured, well spoken, warm, and respects his elders. The credit for all this goes entirely to Neetu. I was diametrically opposite when I was his age, being arrogant and brattish, but what the hell? It was 1974, I was being paid a salary of Rs 5 lakh a month and half the world was crazy about me. But now I’ve mellowed.” (Also Read: Unseen Photo Of Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor And Ranbir Kapoor Post Riddhima Kapoor's Chooda Ceremony)
Throwing some light on his relationship with Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor had revealed his deep regret, “Out of respect I was always very scared of my father. I don’t know about Ranbir; of course he respects me, but I’ve never been friends with him and that is my biggest drawback. It’s also a deep regret but again, I don’t know. Only time will tell if it is something that’s good or not. I used to drink with my dad, though out of respect, I never smoked in front of him. Similarly, I can share a drink with Ranbir, but he doesn’t smoke in front of me though I know he smokes. I never made friends with Ranbir and though I regret it, I am also not one of those guys who would want to be on back-slapping terms with my son.”
Since Rishi Kapoor’s demise, his fans have been resorting to his throwback pictures and videos to bring back those beautiful memories that the actor has left us with.
