Daveigh Chase's Friends Searched For Her In Homeless Encampments, Weeks Before Her Death At 35

Former child star, Daveigh Chase, who once won hearts with her admirable performance as 'Samara Morgan' in The Ring and for voicing 'Lilo' in Lilo and Stitch, has said her farewell to the world at 35. Despite making one of the most promising filmographies at a young age, she spent her final years away from Hollywood's spotlight. Now, some heartbreaking details about her final months have emerged. They suggest that her friend were desperately trying to search for her to help her before her tragic death.

Daveigh Chase's friends launched a desperate search for her in homeless encampments 

According to new reports from insiders, Daveigh Chase's close friends were searching for her for years after she gradually disappeared from public life. They became even more concerned in recent months when they learned that the former actress might have been living in difficult conditions. In fact, she was probably spending her days in downtown Los Angeles. They never stopped trying to reconnect with her after she stepped away from the entertainment industry. Still, any sort of communication with her had become more difficult, leaving those around her worried.

A few months before her death, Daveigh's last friends reportedly got a video related to her. They believed it showed her living near Los Angeles' Skid Row. For those unaware, the neighbourhood is known for housing a large homeless population. In turn, the footage allegedly showed a woman believed to be Daveigh, who looked extremely thin and in poor health. Needless to say, the sight was deeply alarming for those around her.

Since then, they were determined to find her. Some reports claim that several fiends reportedly travelled to the area in the hope of finding and helping the actress. However, when they reached there, she was no longer there, despite their consistent efforts to find her in different parts of downtown Los Angeles over the following weeks. But all the attempts were futile. Some updates also suggested that her weight had dropped dramatically due to her ongoing struggles. In turn, her death has affected the people, especially knowing that they were close to finding her before it got too late. 

Why did Daveigh Chase leave Hollywood at 25?

Daveigh Chase was once one of Hollywood's most popular young stars. She earned widespread fame for her role in The Ring. In fact, her voice as 'Lilo' in Disney's Lilo and Stitch still holds a special place in the hearts of fans. But her career significantly slowed down by the mid-2010s. Daveigh was last seen in 2016 in independent films.

Later, she quietly stepped away from Hollywood and disappeared from the public domain. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, revealed after her death that she was facing multiple personal challenges, bullying, financial challenges, and painful estrangement from her family. At the same time, her legal issues in 2017 and 2018 brought her a lot of negative attention, taking her further away.

What caused Daveigh Chase's tragic death? 

Daveigh Chase passed away on June 16, 2026 at a LA hospital. According to reports, she was hospitalised earlier in the month due to severe malnutrition. The former actress also had other serious health concerns. Eventually, doctors found Meningitis as well as multiple bloodstream infections. Later, they triggered sepsis, which led to the failure of multiple organs. Although she was receiving medical treatment, her condition worsened quickly, and she gave in. Roy had reportedly even started a fundraiser for her in hopes of bringing her support and comfort in her final days.
