Babita Phogat and Vivek Suhag’s wedding functions had kickstarted on November 28, 2019, with her shaadi ki pehli rasam i.e., the baan ritual. For those who are wondering what this ritual is, baan embarks the beginning of the first ritual in a wedding, wherein the ladies or elders of the house apply haldi ubtan on the bride-to-be, a day before or a few days before the wedding to ensure that her skin glows on her D-day. Sharing the pictures, Babita had written, “Shaadi ki pehli rasam.” Geeta Phogat also shared a video of her sister, Babita, wherein the excited then-to-be bride could be seen showered with love and blessings from the ladies in the house. Geeta had captioned it as “Behen ki shaadi @babitaphogatofficial babul ki duayein leti ja.”
Finally, the day came when Babita Phogat and Vivek Suhag became each other’s forever and were pronounced as husband and wife on December 1, 2019. But do you know that there were only 21 baraatis at Babita and Vivek’s union? As per a DBPost report, Babita and Vivek’s wedding had only 21 baraatis and the lovebirds had taken one extra phera, apart from the saat pheres, which she dedicated to the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative. Hailing from Haryana, Babita wanted to support the initiative that intends to curb female feticide in the country, which has led to a skewed sex ratio.
As a part of the wedding ceremony, Babita Phogat and Vivek Suhag had also planted trees, making an important statement to save the environment. According to DBPost, Babita had expressed, “Father did not allow us sisters to doll up, but today the wish has been fulfilled. Today I am very happy after becoming a bride. Very happy after wearing a bridal dress. When we used to go to the wedding ceremony of other girls, we sisters used to wear bangles and rings many times seeing other girls. But Dad did not allow. He often said that your goal should be just wrestling. When the goal is achieved, then do the makeup. I am very happy about wearing a bridal dress.” (Also Read: Soha Ali Khan Visits Her Father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's Grave With Daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu)
