There was a time when popular South Indian actress, Ramya Krishnan was working with the critically-acclaimed director, K.S. Ravikumar, in back-to-back movies. In 1999, Ramya was seen in Padayappa and Paattali, which were directed by K.S. Ravikumar and brought a lot of fame for the young actress. However, it was the 2002 film, Panchatanthira, in which K.S. Ravikumar showed Ramya as a completely different character, and it had caught the eyes of many renowned South Indian directors. While working with K.S. Ravikumar in these three films, Ramya had reportedly created a close bond with the director. If reports are to be believed, soon, the two fell in love with each other and started dating each other.
Despite knowing the fact that K.S. Ravikumar was married to Karpagam Ravikumar, the actress hadn't stopped herself from falling madly in love with the director. Soon the two were reportedly involved physically, and it was speculated that Ramya Krishnan had gotten pregnant. It is reported that when K.S. Ravikumar's wife witnessed reports of her husband being involved in a relationship with Ramya, she had threatened the actress. During that time, the rumour mill was churning the reports of Ramya's unwanted pregnancy and Ravikumar's extra-marital affair with her in full throttle.

Thus, the director had paid a whopping sum of Rs. 75 lakhs back in that time to abort the baby. According to unidentified sources, neither Ramya nor K.S. Ravikumar were ready for a child at that time, which is why the actress had decided to abort the child. However, when the media asked the duo about their relationship, pregnancy, and abortion, both of them rubbished these reports.
For the uninitiated, Ramya Krishnan had got married to renowned Telegu filmmaker, Krishna Vamsi on June 12, 2003.
