Ayushmann Khurrana Talks About How His Stardom Came At A Price As He Hardly Gets Time For His Family

Sometimes in life, we have to give up or rather, compromise on one aspect of life to pursue another. For things that actually matter, their biggest sacrifices make it worth. Striking the perfect balance between work and personal life is something that we all have been striving on. And in the end what we only wonder is if our work is actually the dream for which we are compromising on our family time. No matter how much ‘keema pao, tangdi kabab and hakka noodles’ life may offer us, nothing beats ‘dal chawal’, right? Time and again, B-town celebrities have also expressed how they have missed out on family life, for their tight-packed work schedules. Bollywood’s superstar, Ayushmann Khurrana also has something to say along these similar lines. (Also Read: Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor's Birthday Wish For Anand Ahuja Is Making Us Cry With Happiness)

It was in 2004 when a video jockey on MTV Wassup, wearing huge glasses had all our hearts for his dimpled smile. Winner of Roadies Season 2, Ayushmann Khurrana had proved his mettle as an actor with his debut film, Vicky Donor. Over the years, Ayushmann has showcased his versatility and how easily he can pull off serious, quirky and fun characters. In an interview with the IANS, Ayushmann revealed how stardom comes at a price and said, “I hardly get time with my family anymore. Ayushmann Khurrana and his awesome wife, Tahira Kashyap have redefined love by proving that it is not only about a bed full of roses, but it requires sufficient amount of water (read ‘efforts, care and compassion’) to grow. Ayushmann and Tahira had met at a tuition centre and since then, despite the ups and downs in their relationship, they have stood for each other as strong pillars of support. While Tahira had helped him achieve his dreams, Ayushmann became her biggest support during her cancer battle. (Also Read: 'Nach Baliye 9' Couple Rochelle Rao and Keith Sequeira To Plan Baby Soon, Say It's About That Time)

Speaking about a rough patch in her marriage with Ayushmann, Tahira had revealed how she had a problem with her husband’s on-screen kissing. In an interview with SpotboyE, Tahira had said, “I had a problem with him kissing on screen. I felt like a big, huge fat whale sitting at home. When you are pregnant your hormones also go up and down. Here this boy is looking at his youngest youth best and he is romancing women and what is this onscreen kiss! We both were very young. He didn’t have the time and patience to take me along and I didn’t have the patience to understand. There was this disconnect that we were not there for each other to take each other along in that journey. Somewhere he knew that she doesn’t mean mad. I also knew he wasn’t cheating. I had to evolve as a person to understand what art is.”

Tahira had further stated, “I had given up many times but he did not. He didn’t use to give up but he also didn’t makeup... We both have really evolved as artists, as companions and we have seen a journey including cancer being a part of it. Where we are right now, it is at its strongest best.”

In a throwback interview, Ayushmann had spoken about how fame has affected his family life and was quoted as saying, ''After the first film, our personal life was affected. I had no time for my family. You begin to feel big, your ego swells. Then I got back on track. It’s great to see both sides in these five years. The highs and the lows. Personally and professionally, it has made me balanced. It gives you a better perspective of life. Honestly, had all my films been successful, my wife would have left me. I would have been a different person. She has been with me through thick and thin. That is why we are together. Of course, you do get attracted to people. But your core needs to be right. The belief that you are with this person for a lifetime and you have to be with the family. That is the only thing, which will last forever.”

Ayushmann has undoubtedly garnered an immense female fan following with his charming boy-next-door roles. When asked how he handles his female fans, Ayushmann had retorted, “Earlier Tahira used to get jittery with all the female attention. It was different for her to see her college friend kissing women on screen. Now it’s cool. She has grown from being my girlfriend in Chandigarh to someone, who has shot a short film and will be directing a feature film soon. She is an artiste too. So, she understands the space an artiste needs and demands. Every actor loves this kind of attention. She knows that I love it and she is happy for me. She also knows that my love for her is way bigger than all this.” (Also Read: Anushka Sharma Reacts To Pregnancy Rumours And Stereotypes Surrounding A Married Woman In Bollywood)
